I believe I have the second review ever for this taco truck, but it's been like 6 years since I made that review. That very old review was a very sparkling review, just for context. At the time I made it, it was clear that Doblado was vastly superior to any other taco truck in Oconomowoc, and quite possibly all of Waukesha County. This taco truck is in need of a major review overhaul on my part. Has anything changed? Yes, absolutely. For the good or the bad? Well, it's clearly for the good. Doblado's original offerings remain, which is great because all of them are top notch and are what you expect to see at an authentic Mexican food taco truck. However, the new offerings are so awesome that this taco truck is now clearly one of the best in the State of Wisconsin! They've got birria now. Yes, it's good birria, too. They've got the expected birria tacos, but they also have quesabirria and a birria quesadilla. Top notch items, to be sure. They've added other less-often-seen-at-taco-trucks offerings, such as cochinita pibil, as well. I have yet to try thaat one, but I will in the near future. They've also added some mole options, which is something to behold. Truly feel lucky that the super friendly owner/operator of this truck chose Oconomowoc to put roots down in. This place is worth a 30-minute drive each way t get their delicious...
Read moreThe food here seemed well regarded, as there was a constant line while we dined. The special burrito was delicious, and I'd definitely get again. The enchilada plate, which was attractive because of the different meat included (one each of cheese, bean, chicken, ground beef), was pretty underwhelming. Flavor was pretty bland (green Verde sauce) and no sides were included for $10. The house salsas (particularly the hot) helped to add some flavor.
I really wish they had kid options on the menu. My daughter ordered a cheese quesadilla, which was $8. It came with rice and would have included meat, but seemed costly for what was received.
We ordered one churro to share, which was AMAZING. We ate it after dinner and wished we had tried it while it was warmer. We also heard someone else ask if they still had elote corn, which was not on the menu. That sounded delicious, and I wish it had been posted somewhere.
There is another food trailer sharing the same parking lot that had a different menu. Not sure how...
Read moreI love a good dinner out. Tonight with no set plans, we drove into Oconomowoc and on the main street, Wisconsin Ave, and saw Taquerîa Doblado food truck.. We pulled into the parking lot and found a great menu with really reasonable pricing and a super-friendly man in the window. We ordered a Quesidilla and 2 Tacos, both with a bottle of Mexican Coke. I then noticed Churros on the menu board and had to have one of those too. Everything was great! This was a perfect meal for us as we ate at the picnic table in the parking lot. Atmosphere? Actually, really nice! We could people watch and carry on a nice conversation with the man in the window; I wish I remembered his name, but his pride in his work and food was extraordinary! Finding a great Mexican food truck in this little town is a treat, and not one to be missed! No accessibility issues since it is outside and...
