Disappointing and Disorganized
We recently returned to Chuck E. Cheese for our annual group trip, but unfortunately, this year’s experience did not live up to the expectations set the previous year. We paid $400 for a reservation that included 30 free play cards (2-hour limit) and 7 medium pizzas. On paper, it sounded like a great deal—especially given how smoothly things ran last year—but the reality fell far short.
There were no servers provided this time, unlike the previous year. We had to serve our own drinks and pizza without any proper serving tools—resorting to using our hands to serve food to our students. This was not only frustrating but also unsanitary and unacceptable for a paid group experience.
The confusion didn’t end there. When it came time to redeem tickets for prizes, we were told that the package no longer allowed students to use their earned tickets—instead, each student was to receive a pre-made prize bag. This was never communicated to us beforehand, and was a major disappointment to the kids who were excited to choose their own prizes like they had in the past.
To add to the frustration, it also wasn’t made clear during booking that adults would need to pay separately. When we booked the reservation three months in advance, we were specifically asked how many students and adults would be attending, so naturally we assumed the quoted price covered the entire group. Having to pay additional fees on-site caused confusion and forced us to contact our district to clarify the cost discrepancy.
On the day of the event, the staff on duty seemed unprepared and uninformed. The person assisting us didn’t even provide pitchers for our drinks—because they “didn’t know” it was part of the package. With only two employees working, the entire experience felt chaotic and poorly managed.
After driving across the city and investing time and money into what we hoped would be a fun, well-organized outing, we left disappointed and frustrated. Sadly, we will not be returning. I cannot recommend Chuck E. Cheese for large parties, and I will not be bringing my organization, school, or family back to this...
Read moreChuck-E-Cheese... This company has been around for AGES; my grandmother would take my brothers and I all the time (we couldn’t wait to spend our gold tokens!) . . . It really is hit or miss with the Mascot at this location; sometimes it’s amazing, high energy, mingling with the kids and having fun - while other times... you’d think the poor mouse just ate the last piece of cheese left in the world it’s so sad. . . . Smells... a little mildew like, could definitely benefit from a really good carpet cleaning and sanitizing the entire place, because let’s face it - kids can get stinky, germs grow and well kids throw up! (I’ve seen it happen a few times just this year, ugh poor kids) . . . Checking the stamps. I really wish this would be done more carefully, I went in with my 4 kids, later a friend came in with her 3 - our kids are the same age and well my oldest was having a sleep over with her oldest while her middle was staying with me, they left before I did, and the employee checking the stamp used the light but didn’t question the stamp not matching, and when I left - same thing... now maybe the stamp isn’t what I thought it was for (making sure kids leave with the adult that has the same stamp number) because prior to this experience I was under the impression this is a safer place and that numbers would always match, we still go, it’s just a little more stressful since I have to make sure all my kids stay close together and they play near the same machines so I can watch all of them, constantly at the same time rather than my oldest playing the arcade games while the younger ones play on the rides and play area for...
Read moreBirthday dreams squashed. Had a birthday party for a 3 yo. He was looking forward to meeting Chuck E for 2 weeks. Might as well have just sat at a regular table and bought our own play passes because the whole experience was absolutely terrible. When we arrived, we paid our money, and nobody told us where our table was or when we could expect the show to start. Or when we needed to have the birthday cake ready to blow out the candles. I didn’t realize that happened in the middle of the dance. We didn’t pay for a host, which we didn’t need one. We just needed the manager to have a 30 second conversation with us at the beginning to explain what was going on, like that we played for an hour and then had the dance. When we ordered an additional pizza, it went to the wrong party so all our guests went hungry. So incredibly embarrassing to all my son’s friends parents. When we first arrived, they had given us the upgraded cups and weren’t supposed to. So even though we had already gotten drinks, they took the cups from us. That was our only interaction from the staff all night. There were no plates or silverware at the table for the $50 of pizza we bought other than the 8 kids plates, I had to ask for that. Then to top it off, the Chuck E looked like he was having a bad day. My son tried to high five him and he wouldn’t do it. He barely danced, barely engaged with the kids, my son was on the dance floor standing next to him dancing and he didn’t even acknowledge him! I would never encourage anybody to have a birthday party here, unless you want your kids birthday dreams to...
