The experience as a whole was just not good. I had read the bad reviews and thought, it’s mainly customer service so it can’t be THAT BAD. Oh goodness. The initial greeting was warm and welcoming. Then we sat down and ordered 1 pupusa, 1 special breakfast, the birria meal and 2 drinks. One being a soda and the other a pineapple water. The salsa and queso tasted like they came out of a can. Then came the main course and the only thing we both agreed tasted good, was the beans. The birria lacked all flavor and the special breakfast was very salty! The pupusa was dry and didn’t even come with sauce. We should have known better than to order a pupusa at a Mexican restaurant. The pineapple drink (agua de piña) was great!

Mid eating- the server asked if we needed anything and I was starting to say a plate for our toddler, but she basically ran away. Then, my husband went to the bar area and asked for a plate. Minutes later we see the server with beers in her had and a plate with lemons and cheese and under it a plate. She dropped the other things off and then brought us the plate that was under the one she just gave to someone. When she sat it down it had cheese stuck on it and what I’m guessing was cilantro. She instantly picked it up and half wiped it with her dirty apron and put it in front of my toddler. That was it for me. The food was bad, the service took forever to get what we needed and then we get it dirty. THEN, we go to pay and for our family of 2 adults and one toddler it was $54 before tip. #1 spot for authentic Mexican eats, outstanding service, and inviting environment. I took my new New Zealand lover to this restaurant to experience the average Oklahoma “tex mex,” but I was sooo wrong. This hidden gem hosts a vast menu of traditional dishes that are family recipes. Just like the name “girasol,” which means sunflower, our server was bright and charming. She and her mother run the show and hope to open a second location in the future. I am cheering for this sweet family. We tried 3 main courses and ate every last bite of the large plated entrees! The mix fajitas are made with quality meats that are tender and vibrant with flavor. The setup comes with freshly made tortillas and guacamole. Every bite made me smile and was followed by a deep exhale of appreciation. So good! The beef quesa brissias are a show stopper. The outer shell has a crisp crunch and once you bite in, your mouth is filled with savory juices and meat that melts in your mouth. They marinate the meats for days, and you can definitely tell! It comes with a bowl of consommé for dipping, which sends it to the next world. My date also had tostadas I believe, but he wolfed them down before I could try it… They were apparently a winner too!
