My wife and I have dined in at Granny's on at least 3 occasions but surprisingly have yet to write a review. Well, today's the day. Destination: Granny's Kitchen.
Once again, I won't speak for my wife but my latest experience was exceptional to say in the least. But not for the typical reasons one would expect; bear with me. So once seated, our waitress, Shauna, dropped in and took our orders for drinks and food and yada yada yada. But that's not the real story.
I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken breakfast with Scrambled Eggs, Tater Tots, 2 slices of French Toast and a Biscuit. The food was pretty good. And the portion sizes were great, just as my wife and I love and have come to expect from Granny's. But that's not the real story.
Shauna made sure that our drinks stayed topped off and that our food was to our liking. But that's not even the real story.
The real story is what would come next. As I was halfway through eating my meal, a gentleman (management perhaps), whose name I unfortunately did not get, visited us and inquired about our opinions on the food. We gave him quite an earful. The truth is, everything was pretty darn good in my opinion. However, the Chicken Fried Chicken lacked the desired flavor that the gentleman informed me that it should have had. I informed him that it tasted kind of bland. He informed me of the typical ingredients and preparation that goes into making the Chicken Fried Chicken, but I was sorry to say that it missed the mark this time around. It was no big deal. Sometimes it's hit and miss.
What was a big deal was how he handled the matter. That's the real story. The gentleman offered to remake the meal and offered to refund the meal before asking what would make me happy. I was already stuffed. So, I couldn't eat another bite. I'd eaten most of my meal. So, it wouldn't have been fair to have it remade. But what already made me happy was the effort and offer to do so. That is true customer service in my book and it truly made my experience worth the visit. I would highly recommend Granny's Kitchen for your...
Read moreUpdate from 5 to 4 stars. Our service today was absolutely not up to par. The restaurant was not full and our server did not appear overwhelmed. We ordered drinks. Received them several minutes after our food arrived. We did not order food immediately as we were chatting. The drinks were not good at all. Very artifical tasting and overly sweet. Seems to be an ongoing issue with their bar/bartenders/stock. The crepes were different than 3 weeks ago. Not hot on arrival. The lady who was likely a supervisor with her headset on, stood leaning on a wall until patrons left, then she assisted in bussing the tables. However she never smiled, did not appear pleasant, and certainly didn't make the rounds to check satisfaction. There are many, many tried and true brunch places. Meals out are a treat. When my friends and I meet, we need our drinks to be delicious and served promptly as well as our food to be of the right temperature. I really feel our most recent experience calls for a 3 star but I'm trying to be nice here. Please, Granny, figure out what's going on because we would like to come back, but not if service and food/drinks remain this way.
Original post: The Paradise Crepes are so yummy!! Would be nice if they came with a side of homestyle potatoes vs just the crepes. That being said, the crepes are large and stuffed full! The bar was out of a few necessary items, but the bar manager was able to make adjustments nicely. Will definitely be back to try some of their other...
Read moreLet me start with how we were driving and moving all day, new to the city and we had an appetite to fill. We wanted to try this place cause the food looked amazing. We were seated righted away, which was a relief, the restaurant looks awesome, we’re excited to eat! Sadly, that excitement dwindles away and the disappointment begins we waited about 10 mins to get our drink orders as we’re looking over the overwhelmingly huge menu options. As a Texan, I naturally order a sweat iced tea, got sink water instead (was not sweet iced tea) and the sirloin breakfast medium rare. The waitress said it’s not a real sirloin and we don’t cook by temperatures, I asked what it was then, she said she doesn’t know how to explain it. Okay, if I was going over pay for food I’ll just get something I know, eggs and sausage and stuffed French toast, can’t mess that up! Ohhh but did they! Stuffed french toast is a burnt uncrustable sandwich! Absolutely disgusting don’t order those! Alrighty, so we ate what we could, waited and waited and waited for the server to give us the check, she finally comes to our table to tell us she was in the bathroom, don’t want to hear that, but after being grossed out by the food, why not hear about that too? Right?! Or wrong?! Idk I’m just ready to get out of there and go home ( which we finally did after another 15 mins). I plan to be back to the city to visit but will definitely steer clear of this place. If anybody has other...
