Long review!!
My boyfriend took me on a date here, New Years Eve. He was excited because the restaurant offers a 4 course dining “experience” & every so often, we like to switch up our meals. We arrive to our reservation a few minutes before scheduled. We waited to be seated approximately 15 minutes or so. This is understandable with the time of year.
Fast forward to being seated, our waitress did not great us for about 10-15 minutes or so. When she finally did great us, she brought us a drink menu, mumbled something about needing to grab the bread & walked away. Maybe 10 more minutes pass and she comes back to take our drink and food order. She didn’t take time to explain the menu, she just kind of looked at us like “what do you want”. Still no complementary bread in hand.
We order our food & wait some more. I’d say, 20 minutes pass and she comes to our table and noticed that we didn’t have our drinks. She gets them, comes back & I politely ask, “is the bread not included in the course”. She responds “I can get you some if that’s what you want”. By this point I’m annoyed and my boyfriend is sensing it so he responds with “yes please”.
Usually when we receive poor service, I would leave the establishment, however with it being New Year’s Eve and little change of getting in anywhere else, we stayed. We finally get our first course and the bread comes out shortly after.
The first course wasn’t too bad, however we waited 20 more minutes before being brought our 2nd course. We both ordered salads - both taste as if they were sitting on a shelf for a good period of time. We pick over the salads & begin the long wait for our 3rd meal, the entree. We waited approximately 30 minutes before receiving it. Not once did the waitress provide us with an update, but instead visited our table one time during this period to top off glasses of water that were already full.
Finally, we receive the highly anticipated entree. Neither one of our meals were edible. He ordered some type of pasta that was not done to the taste at all! The noodles were hard and could have used a little bit more boiling. My food, I couldn’t even complete a whole bite. I ordered what I was expecting to be chicken parmesan. The chicken patty was so greasy, I could see the grease sitting in a puddle. The breading was burnt all along the edges.
We chose not to eat our meals and waited 10 more minutes before our waitress came to check on us. I politely expressed our concerns with the meals and she immediately, without a word, starting aggressively slamming the plates on top of one another in efforts to clear the table.
She leaves & about 2 minutes later, who I assume to be the owner, comes to our table, slams the receipt on the table and says “I’ve only charged you for one meal, are you sure you don’t want anything to go”. I wasn’t even looking to be compensated. When addressing my concerns with the waitress, I told her we would pay for everything, skip the final course, but that we were ready to leave.
The service and quality of food we experienced for the prices that are offered, are extremely unwelcoming and rude. I don’t review restaurants often but I am 100% about service & we just didn’t get it. Needless to say, we didn’t ask anything to go. I took pictures of how our table looked most of the time and how my food came out, wish I...
Read moreWe've been wanting to try this restaurant after hearing some positive reviews. This building has seen a number of eateries die here, but Piatto seems to have stood longer than the previous so that also appeared positive. We were seated immediately and right in the middle of a rectangular room at a random two top table. Unfortunately, we were surrounded by larger tables of groups of friends, and it made conversation difficult on our date night. We felt we were kind of in the middle of everyone and there was no intimacy to our placement, and again, conversation was difficult. Our waitress was prompt in drink order, drink delivery, appetizer order and entree order. After that, we did not see her again for a long time. We ordered the arancini which was good. It's better than Pizzeria Gusto's but not better than Osteria's or Patrono's. We had to flag a manager to make a wine order after finishing our prosecco as our waitress was nowhere to be found. My husband's bolognese was very good. I ordered the carbonara which was disappointing. It was heavy with cream sauce which is more American than Italian. The flavor overall was off and there was no cracked pepper on the top which is typical in Italy. I flagged down a waitress who was not ours to ask for cracked pepper. It improved the dish a little bit. Ultimately, I did not finish it nor did I want to take home the leftovers. (I will say the noddles were homemade and cooked al dente which was positive. ) Our waitress reappeared towards the end of our meal. Dessert list was boring, so I had the "best in town" brandy ice while my husband had the limoncello. Limoncello was excellent but the brandy ice was not. They added chocolate to it.... I know I'm an oddity but I don't particularly love chocolate and I definitely don't love it in a brandy ice. Besides the chocolate, the brandy ice was reminiscent of a Junior's brandy ice which is not my most favorite personally. I sent it back and it was removed from my ticket. As we were leaving, we ran into several friends who had ordered pizza. Pizza wasn't an option on our menus but it didn't really matter as I wouldn't have ordered it. It looked overdone, and they said it was "okay." One friend in the group said she shouldn't have ordered a steak at an Italian restaurant and not a steak restaurant, so I guess it was just okay as well. I debated between 2 or 3 stars. It wasn't an awful meal, but it definitely wasn't great. With 3 kids, we only get a date night about 2-3 times a month, and there's just too many other good date night spots that we'd rather go to than to come back here. It was a one and...
Read moreAte here tonight with the wife. First time patrons here. This place is not cheap. Down the street from Nichols Hills in OKC. Anyway where to start. The table water, was not wet in your mouth..... Even had to ask for ice. Once iced down, my mouth was still dry. So to start off, the dinner water was strange. They clearly needed a water filter system badly. Which also means they use it to cook pastas and all other items. My rigatoni pasta with a water based sauce, noodles were UNDER COOKED as in near raw. This is a high end Italian restaurant. Asked the nice waiter to please refire my pasta. Came out the same again, hard noodles. Not into anti-pasta raw noodles. Manager brought my plate back out. He asked if it was okay. I said no, raw noodles again. He told me all their pasta was made FRESH that day, turned around and walked off. Not oh I'm sorry. May I get you something else edible you might enjoy sir? What can we do, again, to make me happy?
Wife had salmon, again in a water based sauce. Not a cream or tomato sauce either, very strange. She is Asian and KNOWS fish. She said the fish was good not great. As in we payed $87.00 for this meal for 2 people. I don't mind paying more for GOOD FOOD at all. Don't think this is a price deal on my part people. I'm fat and I know good food LOL. Still looking for a good Italian joint in OKC. This Piatto place got Chopped tonight.
What was good. The iced tea with simple sugar, the salads although pricey were "good'. Their bread, oil and balsamic was near raw. We only had 3 or 4 baskets of bread MMMMM. I actually filled up on their bread. Food was just not on for us. Eaters...
