Where do I start. Cost 28.00 for two salad bars. No longer use green lettuce but ice berg. Mashed potatoes are bland instant. Meat loaf is watery nasty. Baked chicken was hard as a rock. Potato skins was just hard dried up skins. Mac is bland and soupy. Gravy was lumpy and watery. Broccoli casserole was dried and crusted at top like it been out two days. I had to pretend chopped steak was cooked in a rou only to make my stomach hurt and feel nauseous like throwing up. The quality was at best compatible to food in a consecration camp. I felt like they was mad at me. Like they know there going out of business and just trying price gouge to get as much as they can before they do. It was horrible food. Like eating a plate of chitlings over the toilei had major buyers remorse and don't want to throw up so I don't feel more ripped off than I do now. It's like buying a gold chain off the street to find out it's fake. I'm sick . The banana pooding looked like it's saved and reused it was beginning to lose its thickness turning to liquid with black bananas. The fruit salad has a horrible bitter sour taste. They should had payed me to eat that crap. This place needs visited by the health department. Should be shut down. Ethnics have ruined the concept of what this place use to be. If your looking to get ripped off and walk out feeling sick and needing a enema and complete detox while being on the verge of death this is the...

This Pickles is a 'the old, rebranded, Western Sizzlin', has a full buffet as well as steaks and is the perfect balance to Golden Corral a mile west: Pickles is "small town southern" whereas Golden Corral is "big city northern," but both are equally good--it only depends on your mood that day; I eat at both. This option is less crowed and the small-town style waitresses are more likely to stop and chat a moment.

A few specifics: the southern style catfish is not salty and is plenty substantial, and they have both fried and baked chicken and often baked fish. Their potato salad is wonderful. They always have grilled (not fried) sliced jalapenos. They also serve up many of the old comfort foods: mac and cheese, meatloaf, chili mac, chicken and noodles, etc. They vary the menu so it is not the exact same every day--the basics plus they rotate some items in and out.

The best senior deal is between 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. M-F.

Currently (Jan 2025) they have reduced their evening hours. Unless you are going at lunch, verify their current hours...

There needs to be a zero stars option. Where to start? The wait staff was great, so that's where the star goes in this review. I pay for my food and found a table, took my baked potato up to fix it up, and I hear an employee ordering catfish for her dinner, she stated to who she was talking to that she wants them to cook her 2 pieces of catfish because she likes it hot and fresh, and that catfish has been on the buffet since she got to work. That should've been my first clue as to the horrible food I was about to try. The fried chicken was overcooked and not hot, very dry, tasted like it was put out the day before. The other 4 or 5 items that I tried did not get a second taste it was all so bad. That waitress was very friendly, apologetic, and asked if we wanted to speak to her boss, we declined left her a decent tip and left. I would strongly advise against eating here. Food was just gross and old tasting, my prediction is it...

Pickles Steak House has gone through several name changes over the years, though its menu has remained largely the same (aside from rising prices). When it first opened in the late 1970s, it was called Western Sizzlin. After a couple of decades, it became Mackie McNear's, and more recently, it took on its current name, Pickles Steak House. I've been a semi-regular customer throughout its nearly 45-year history. I dined there tonight and noticed they've made some updates, but the essence remains unchanged. It's still a classic old-school steakhouse, complete with a salad bar—a rare find these days. The food was as good as ever, and the prices are reasonable for the quality and portions. If you haven't been, I highly recommend visiting Pickles Steak House while you can. It’s a nostalgic gem from a bygone era.

I went in a little after 830 last night, knowing that they close at nine and I even asked the waitress if that was OK, that I did not want to be “that guy”—- I got the 8 ounce sirloin cooked medium, and some hashbrowns— and I swear this is the only restaurant left that actually grates a real potato for their hashbrowns! The steak was perfect and the hashbrowns were out of this world—-I had asked for extra crispy and that is exactly what I got——so wonderful! I did not have the buffet with my meal, but everything looked great and I will definitely try it next time
