My husband and I have been driving to Shiki's on Reno for ten years from Tulsa. Tonight unfortunately was our last time. After terrible service, the General Manager Boo (or Bu), completely disregarded us as patrons. We waited for over 20 minutes before the waitress came back after bringing us our beverages. We would have completely understood if she was busy, but at least would have stayed in communication with us. Tonight was my husband's birthday, but after taking our order, the waitress never came back to check on us until it was time to give us our check. We sat at the hibachi table and ordered 8 rolls of sushi. This is our typical order, and normally the waitstaff is always on point, and our very generous tips reflect that. Our young daughters were very disappointed that nobody sang Happy Birthday to their father, or that they had the opportunity to tell anyone. For ten years we have made the trip to OKC. We have talked to Boo every time we were in and if he was there, we always praised his staff to him and reiterated this is why we always come the two hour drive one way to visit. My husband and I have talked to Boo about his wife and children, vehicles, and he has always been friendly. Obviously we don't come weekly, but we have come every few months at the least. Tonight, Boo asked if we wanted a discount just to shut us up. We weren't looking for a discount, just some evidence that he appreciated our loyalty for ten years, but we could not have been more wrong. He stated that every time we come in, we complain, which could not have been any further from the truth. Tonight was the very first time we have ever uttered a negative word to him. In fact, we tell everyone that if they want good sushi, to go see Boo at Shiki's in OKC. He absolutely used that as a scapegoat to gaslight me. I stated I wasn't looking for a discount, then he responded "well what do you want then? If you don't like our service, you don't have to come back." You are absolutely correct, Mr. Boo. This was more than just a restaurant to us. It has been a special place in our heart from before our two youngest girls were born. Do I feel entitled that he owes us something? Absolutely not. But for a general manager to talk to anyone in such low regard, and make them feel so completely unwelcome, is not only unnecessary, but showed me his true colors. He blatantly lied to my face about my husband and I. Clearly we are not welcome or appreciated, and that's fine. Thank you for the last ten years. We will not bother you with our money ever again.

Sushi gone bad...and the gyoza too for that matter. This was litterally the worst restaurant sushi I have ever had and I have had some terrible ones. I started with the gyoza and it had been deep fried. Seriously? It was chewy and tough and the sauce they provided with it was spicy. They probably deep fry to save the time to actually prepare it properly with steam and some seasame oil in a fry pan. It was terrible. I tried a tuna roll that was very skimpy on the tuna and the avacado. Not impressed. I then tried the nigiri sushi as the simplicity of this type of sushi allows you to actually guage the quality of the sushi without it being covered up with sauces and other flavors. The salmon was Atlantic and was not sushi grade. It was slimy and was tough in several places. The yellowfin was terrible and tough. The Mackarel was greasy and had to have the skin removed as it was too tough to eat. The flounder was mediocre. The tuna was average. The shrimp was super tough. I could not eat half of it because of how bad it was. I am still trying to get the taste out of my mouth. Of less significance but detracting from the experience was the timing. I ordered online and was told 15-20 min. I arrived after more than 30 min. When I arrived I was handed my bill then waited while the guy made my order.

We go to Shiki every year because it's where we had our first date. This was the first time at this location though; normally we go to the one on May. The servers were all very personable & polite. I ordered the spicy tuna roll with a side of eel sauce & shrimp al a carte. Wife ordered hibachi steak & shrimp with fried rice and no veggies. The salad & miso soup were brought out quickly and were very tasty. Wife asked for no mushrooms in the soup, so the server added extra fried onions. Wife was very excited about that! The rest of our food came out quickly and was exactly as we asked. The only, and I'm stressing only thing that would've made this better is if we didn't feel rushed. I don't think she meant anything by it, but before we were completely finished eating, our server asked how we wanted the check and handed it to us. Being our anniversary, I'd considered indulging in some dessert, but we weren't asked.

Unlike other hibachi places the veggies were not over cooked and were perfect. Hibachi veggies are not supposed to be mush. The cook, while not talkative was very efficient in his work and observed the traditional rules of the role - entertaining, skilled with the tools and answered any questions and otherwise kept quiet. Overall a very good dinner for me and the wife and and enough for a midnight snack as well.

For another observation I must provide a date and that would be 5/29/2025. The wife and I were seated with a younger couple and when everyone received their salad she balked and had her date demand that they bring another salad. Everyone at the table polished off their salad in short order but she picked at it and again had her date request the salad be replaced. Even after he had ate his salad. She again found something wrong with her salad and eventually convinced her date to leave the restaurant and they talked to the manager and he just let them go. At least they just did not walk out.

I have one piece of advice for the young man that was with her. RUN. NOW. If she is this big of a harridan now she will be an absolute hag in the coming years.

There was nothing wrong with the salads she sent back. Her demonstrated ability to control you means she is and will continue to be manipulative and it will only get worse as the entitled shrew gets older.

Shiki - 5 Stars and apologies for going off subject but I was betting the couple would post a bad review and try to get something for free. I talked to the manager before we left and told him that I thought he was very professional and handled the situation with the couple as best as possible, seeing as they had no real reason to act the way the did and maybe planned to post a poor review or manipulate to get some free food or...

I am a regular customer there. I go there at least once a month. Tonight I placed a to go order for myself and my two kids. One of them has an allergy to mushrooms so I made sure to mention that everything wss to be made without mushrooms. I can't so much as eat them and then kiss my kid without a reaction so we are super careful about it. Again I mentioned it when I ordered and then again when I got there to pay and before I paid. The hostess assured me there was note of it. She brought my receipt and it had no note so I asked again.... she checked the food and all of it had mushrooms. I wanted my money back because I didn't have time to keep waiting well they didnt give it to me and assured me it would only take a few minutes. They finally gave my my food 15 minutes later and I took it assuming the problem was fixed. I should have checked, they only fixed 1 of my 3 items. I get home and my kids cant eat this food nor can I and they refuse to give me a refund. Rest assured they've lost my business for good. This isn't a matter of I dont like it and can pick it off its a health hazard for my kid... I dont have time to go back in for you to replace it today so they pretty much said you're screwed we will give you two kids meals next time if you want. Ummm no. If my kids life doesnt matter to you I am NOT coming back and since no one in my household can eat the food I want my money back. I am calling my card company and disputing the charge. I am extremely disappointed with their service, especially because it was my...
