I generally leave positive reviews, holding back on immediately leaving a negative review, understanding that some places have off days. However, after three consecutive negative dining experiences at Garage restaurants, I'm going to leave this here. Maybe it will help. It is with a heavy heart that I report that this was the third visit in a row to a Garage that completely sucked. Two former visits were at the Garage in Moore, and at the one on Reno in South Oklahoma City.
My husband ordered the avocado melt but was delivered some kind of hamburger with slices of avocado and no cheese at all. As with the two former aforementioned Garage visits, his fries were also waaaay overcooked. I ordered the chicken avocado salad sandwich, but was delivered mostly bread, with maybe two tablespoons of substance. To make matters worse, the one element that might have elevated this meal somewhat would have been an alcoholic beverage. The girl at the counter handed me the little yellow sign, which I placed in our paper towel holder, that should have signified that we were ready and willing to buy drinks, however, no one came by to take our order. Bummer, no offer for an alcoholic beverage. In fact, on our way out of the Garage, I looked at the bar and saw a lady wiping off the counters, with no one seated there at all. Also, in fact, at a 7:30 on a Thursday night, there weren't very many people in the restaurant at all. So why did no one come around see our yellow sign sitting abandoned in the paper towel holder? Literally, once our food was delivered, no one came back to our section at all. Why did no one take our order, as promised?
I'm guessing it's for the same reason that the fries were overcooked, that my husband did not get the item that he ordered, and that my sandwich was mostly bread. And the answer to that would be that the Garage restaurants have consistently gone way downhill since COVID. This used to be our go-to place for burgers and fries. especially for me, who cannot eat red meat, but knew I could get the vegetable option. No more. We won't be returning to a Garage restaurant again.
In this economy where most people agree that we're in a recession, where people are tightening their belts, and there seems to still be employee, service and delivery issues as a result of COVID, all Garage restaurants should recognize that couples like us who are early retired, with boatloads of money to spend eating out, should be given, at the very least what they order, and at the most, should be delivered what is promised, as in the case of adult beverages. Don't expect to get another penny from us with service and food issues such as we experienced not 30 minutes ago.
Further, there's no excuse for fries, hands down the cornerstone of any side dish at a burger place, to continually be brown and overcooked and too crunchy. I suggest that your cooks go by a Red Robin restaurant to see how fries are deliciously and perfectly prepared and served. In fact, that is where you will find us, henceforth, if we ever want fries and burgers again. In my opinion, there is no excuse for anything less than excellence in a dining experience where we are willing to spend our money. I wish that the Garage Corporation understood this, and agreed.
Fom now on, the Garage will simply be to us what it is always been, the place where we will park our cars, and where we will drive out of, to go to a real...
Read moreLast Saturday 10 P.M. Fries overly spiced, meat will sometimes be overly salty. *salt in meat is not really even needed. No ketchup included in to go bag. As a point for improvement at The Garage it is not necessary when serving to repeat the order while speaking over the food as saliva particles fly into it, if this is needed they can simply hold the food to the side and repeat the order. After mistaking my order for dine in a server talked over my food prior to correcting the error and packing it to go. I ended up getting a virus and suffered greatly as I was very ill. While I cannot say with 100% certainty, it does appear this unsanitary practice or perhaps something more sinister caused my illness. My experience prior to this has only been at Rockwell & 122nd where they also talk over food and over salt the meat. Also Seems patty size has decreased or not but would be better if a little thicker. I think The Garage aspires to achieve greatness in hamburgerology but falls short in a few areas. I've no vested interest so this is not a conflict but the owners would do well if ever in the Coppell Tx area to try The Deli Man on Beltline or the older location called The Coppell Deli on Coppell Road. That is the perfect burger and a hard...
Read moreHonestly kinda let down...I always go to the garage on 240 or sooner and while it takes a little longer, the food is always hot there and they have always gotten my order right the first time. At this location my order came faster than normal but our food was cold...very strange, both my order and my daughters was wrong...the ticket was right and wrong based on which meal so it was an issue with the kitchen and the counter. It took a long time waiting to get a to go drink because the employees at the counter where busy chit chatting about some co-worker. The manager did not come around to the customers to ask how they where, I've seen that at every other location I've been to....I hope this is not a trend because I honestly could have gotten the same quality of food tonight and service at Burger King as I did tonight and for a cheaper price to boot! I don't mind waiting a little longer as long as it's done right the first time. I probably won't be back to this location as its out of the way for me and the better locations (sooner and the 240 one) seem to take the time to bring me correctly made...
