Review Update: Johnny’s mgmt reached out to me, and I decided to give them another chance. It was worth it, for the lobster bisque, alone. Butterysweet and luxurious- it had nice chunks of lobster meat at the bottom of the bowl. A perfectly seasoned recipe. I was impressed- and lobster bisque is one of my favorite soups on high-end restaurants around town. Theirs definitely ranked well. I also had a bone-in ribeye, which was cooked properly, and it was juicy. The staff was friendly- and we even shared a chuckle as somehow the subject of people being awkward as they approach the revolving door came up, while I waited for my food. For me, this is the subtle confidence that I like to see. I dont need my water refilled 50 times, but being personable is greatly appreciated. I can’t change what happened in the past- but I’m willing to continue going forward with Johnny’s. My original review: Over the last few years Johnny’s has gone from a steakhouse that could rival J. Gilberts, Hereford or Ruth’s- to straight up Olathe podunk. It seems like they started out with an ideal kitchen staff, with real chefs. Now they’ve become just another bland Olathe restaurant, with inexperienced/incompetent staff. It doesn’t do much good to advertise such an ambitious menu, if they’re not gonna execute it. After a back to back visits resulting in tough and dry ribeyes- I switched from “medium”, to medium-rare. Still felt like I was eating a baseball glove. With this in mind, I decided to try a burger. Called in a carry-out order at 6:30-ish on a weeknight, and the girl who took my order had to put me on hold to go ask someone if they only serve burgers for lunch. Ugh. I should have left it alone.. I didnt. After she took my order, to complete the call, I was asked for my card number.. without being asked how I wanted my burger cooked, or given a total price. When I arrived, I was asked to go to the bar and pay the bartender for my order. The bartender still did not tell me the total. Anyway, the burger was a mix of a couple different recipes- blue cheese, with a slab of provolone, with some sort of fried jalapeños, and mayo. Weird. It was cooked medium, so pinkish and juicy.. I would have preferred med well, with a better bark. Smh The tomato bisque was literally baby food. Flavorless, thick and gooey blah-ness. They need to take “Italian” off the name of this joint... its just “Johnny’s” now. Inside still looks nice, low light, well decorated... but other than that, no bueno.

Not a very good experience for someone with Celiac. This was for a work Christmas party so I wanted to be sure I'd be able to eat something there. So I emailed the manager ahead of time to make sure they offered gluten free options. The manager was very timely in replying to me. Went on to reassure me that all I needed to do was explain my allergy to the server and everything would fine. The server took our orders, mine was Brussel sprouts, mixed veggies, and a medium-well ribeye with no seasonings, they tend to have gluten in them. This meal is also served with a salad, yay cause I was starving. Let me just say that everything was NOT fine. First, my salad came out with everyone else's. Not a big deal for most, but I'm allergic to gluten. It was sitting on a tray right next to salads with croutons, so I was unable to eat that. The young man I was with, however, came out separate so I was able to munch on his thankfully. After that initial shock I called the waitress over and explained, yet again, that I have an allergy and my food NEEDS to stay separate. Not a big deal, I tend to have to do that everywhere I eat. Anyways, my food finally comes out and is placed in front of me. I notice immediately that it's heavily seasoned and is, quite literally, dripping with blood. The fellow I was with looked over at it and after a brief conversation, we realized they had mixed up our steaks. So we called the server over and informed them that we had the wrong steaks. To which their reply was "Just switch them." This is the same server that we have now reminded several times THAT I HAVE CELIAC DISEASE AND CAN'T HAVE GLUTEN, which both steaks were practically saturated in with all the seasonings that were on them. Not only was there seasonings on them, they were also different cuts and cooked differently than how we asked. Why would I switch steaks and still pay the same price. We now insist that they take our plates back and remake our steaks. We eventually get our plates back, but with just the steaks. We have none of the sides that we had ordered. At this point we're just ready to go. For the amount of money you pay to eat here, one would assume that they'd be a tad more careful, especially since I had already reached out to the manager prior to the visit. Just an all around horrible experience for. Would NOT recommend this restaurant for anyone with an allergy.

My now Fiancé and I had a wonderful time at dinner here! Jacob, my fiancé, called beforehand with reservations to inform them that he was planning to propose to me that day. They were more than willing to provide followers and a particular dining area for us. We were in a separate party room just for us with the doors closed. Bruce had talked to Jacob on the phone prior and even came out to see how everything was. Bruce was very friendly and thoughtful throughout this whole process. The rest of the staff were great. Everyone was amicable, and each meal was delivered at a great time. Jacob and I had a lovely time, and I am so happy we decided to celebrate our engagement here! The food was terrific, and the staff was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for sure!

Worst Service @ Olathe Location, Sunday 6/23/24 7pm Birthday Reservation. There were approximately 3-4 tables wrapping up upon arrival. We were seated by the Manager/Bartender. He let us know our Server, Amy would be by shortly. At least 20 minutes later she arrives to take drink order, a fancy multi colored Martini and 2 glasses of Wine. 10-12 minutes even later, the Bartender brings the Martini, but no wine or mention of missing drinks. 5-6 minutes later, Amy brings 1 glass of Wine gets distracted by the table behind us and turns to tend to them without delivering the 2nd glass of Wine still on her tray. I watch in disbelief as she walks aways with it. Another 5-6 minutes pass before Bartender comes out with the glass of Wine and apologizes because the Server said we sent it back because there was something floating in it. I let him know we did not send it back that it was NEVER delivered and that we were just as confused as he was. We've been here going on 45 minutes and are just getting all of our THREE cocktails at this point. We waited so long for drinks that we skipped appetizers and just ordered the salads that were to come with our entrees of which we'd still not ordered yet because our drinks had just arrived. Another 15 minutes after salads, as half of our four-top had gone to the bathroom, Amy comes to take our order. As we're explaining that half of our table is missing which she can clearly see because there's only two of us sitting there, she says "Are you tired? Cuz you look tired." I let her know I wasn't tired just waiting for the rest of our table and she repeated "Oh, I really thought you were tired. You look tired." And then followed it up with "Or maybe just content." I'm furious at this point but doing my best to just get through the night so we ordered another round of cocktails and let her know we'd be ready to order as soon as the remainder of our table returned. She walks away as our guests are sitting back down. Fine. About 6 minutes later, the Martini arrives but again no Wine. That Martini took far longer to make than it took to pour two glasses of Wine and yet they never shared space on the same tray. We NEVER received our drinks at the same time not once throughout this entire experience. And we're here for a Birthday. The remaining drinks come later, dinner is finally ordered and delivered, everyone eats and is ready to order dessert. As we are finishing up dessert and waiting for the bill, they turn the music off and lights start coming on. We're realizing that they are closing. It's 8:52pm. They close at 9pm. We would have been happy to leave much earlier had anyone been interested in doing their job in a timely manner however that did not happen. We were just hoping for a nice dinner, some cocktails and MAYBE a family photo to celebrate my step-daughter's Birthday but that didn't happen either. I've had more attentive service at Burger King and at least you get a paper Crown. Absolutely ridiculous. You should be ashamed of the service you provided. 4 Entrees, 4 Desserts, 6 Cocktails and no one else in the place. I hope that Cash tip fell out of your pocket or all...
