Beach Lobster & Farmstand — Restaurant in Old Orchard Beach

I was visiting Maine for work and had promised a friend to bring back some authentic Maine lobster. I'd anticipated bringing back frozen or something more or less "ready to cook". The lovelies here talked me through transporting a live one over my 3 day return trip. 2 ice packs in my cooler (on a bed of ice, separated by plastic to keep him from getting wet), and nightly visits to the hotel fridge, and he's still kicking, ready for gumbo today! We passed by around 5:30PM on a Wednesday and they still had plenty in stock. (The 1 1/4 lb hard shell lobsters were sold out, but they had everything else) They also carry a creamy clam chowder to reheat.

They steam the lobster on site for you in around 30 min - so we went for a little tour of Old Orchard beach while we were waiting and came back to our dinner packed and ready to go.

We were also able to grab butter, garlic, lemon, fresh veggies and some beautiful sweet strawberries at the stand to complete the meal.

What an adorable place. Great friendly service. They have lots of local items for purchase (jams, pickled vegetables, pies) and they change by whatever is in season. We picked out our lobsters and told them when we wanted them; they cooked it and we picked it up right on time. As they do not have a permit to serve food, they could not crack it open for us but they have the crackers for purchase so we just took ours back to the hotel and ate it on our balcony.
