Atmosphere at IHOP!? This one was clean, bright, and not looking worn, torn, and seedy (different in all those ways from the one a few miles up in Memphis on Riverdale - avoid that one like the plague it is). The booth seats did lack enough springiness and cushioning for my XXXL size though. But "atmosphere"? It's an IHOP ... that atmosphere to be fair it is head and shoulders above Waffle House and quieter / more laid back than the barn sized Cracker Barrels.
As usual I got their "everything" breakfast with three meats (ham, link sausage, and bacon that was crispy as requested), hash browns, eggs scrambled (added cheddar cheese as they no longer have swiss), and pancakes (substituted the protein ones for buttermilk). Saddly, corporate has yet to get the message from customers like me who still long for their harvest nut and grain pancakes, discontinued years ago (the waitress, probably not out of high school when that mistake occurred, confirmed that customers still ask for them). Not present on the table is a selection of syrups (another thing that once distinguished IHOP from other breakfast places), but at least some (like the butter pecan I always get) are in the back, available on request.
Another even longer missing offering is a robust coffee (last had many years ago that at an IHOP on the Gulf Coast); so I usually forego their dishwater stuff. BUT, this time I went early (6:30) and hadn't had a cup at home. So I trepidaciously tried some. Surprisingly, it was somewhat better ... more like real coffee. Not sure if that was just this IHOP or just dumb luck (but maybe corporate did finally get the message on that!?).
The service was friendly and great. The food came out fast and hot. I even got above and beyond help with a Kroger bought gift card ... that I couldn't use (BEWARE, one of the latest corporate marketing grifts in that arena is gift cards that show multiple restaurants BUT in fine print AND only once opened require pre-registration with only ONE of the restaurants shown in order...
Read moreWe’re from St. Louis and visiting the Memphis area. It’s our last day in the area and we wanted to stop at Graceland prior to heading home. The seven of us stopped to get breakfast and arrived at this location at 11:01. We were originally told we had a 15 minute wait, but we were seated pretty quickly. However, that’s when our service went down. We waited almost ten minutes before our waitress to acknowledge us and take our drink order. We ordered our food, she came back to our table 30 minutes later to confirm our order for the fifth time and said she was putting in our order. She returned another 20 minutes later and told my sister that they were out of crepes and she forgot to let her know when she was ordering and asked if she wanted to order something else. We sat for another 35 minutes and still hadn’t received our food. Our waitress never came back to our table to even check on us during that time. By the time our food arrived it wasn’t hot, the bacon was pretty much raw and one person didn’t get her meal AT ALL. The waitress said that the cook made the wrong order and had to remake the meal that was missing. We asked to see a manager on twice and instead of coming to our table to ask what the issue was, the manager stood at the POS system which wasn’t that far from our table and said “they’ll have to wait, I’m trying to fix this ticket”. They were supposed to remove the meal that we never got, but after leaving we realized that the meal was still on the ticket. This was very unprofessional and we have never been to an IHOP where the service was that bad. We’ve eaten at plenty of IHOPs that have been busy on a Sunday and received a lot better service than we did at this one. We also won’t be able to continue our plans before leaving since we sat at their restaurant for...
Read moreI had breakfast there today, 7-27-19 with a friend. I ordered two eggs over easy hashbrowns wheat toast and a bowl of fruit. Well Anthony our server brought out our plates and set down everything and asked if we need anything. Our answer is we're good, so he turns around and goes about his business. Well after about 30 seconds I realized that I have white bread toast instead of wheat toast and it's cold. The butter wouldnt even melt on the already cold toast. We waited for over 15 minutes before we had stopped another server and asked about the toast and where our server was. She stated she would get us the right toast which is wheat toast for me. I'm thinking I can eat the warm buttery wheat toast with my over easy eggs. But by this time my food was cold 🤪🙄cold! another 5 minutes 7 minutes 8 minutes goes by and she doesn't show up. Then after a couple of more minutes, then shows up our server Anthony with the corrected wheat toast. I explain to him the entire issue of what happened and why I was upset with receiving a wrong order. I asked him where he had been because he's been gone so long and he told me he was helping somebody on the other side. To me that's no excuse. We are paying customers. He just dropped off our food and left. He didn't even come back to make sure everything was correct. So I ate cold over easy eggs by themselves instead of with my butter wheat toast that I should have received...
