Today, my husband and I decided to try a new Mexican restaurant because we suddenly craved tacos. Despite my husband being Latino, we have a couple of go-to spots, but we decided to give this new place a shot. We weren’t expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised.
We ordered five tacos, two of which were made with lengua (tongue) and tripa (offal). I’m from a country where offal is common, so I was curious to try these flavors. My husband ordered more familiar options for himself. Every single one of these tacos was simply outstanding. My husband, who knows his Mexican food, confirmed that this is the real deal—authentic Mexican cuisine at its best.
Our experience was grab-and-go, as we ordered takeout, and honestly, we didn’t leave a tip because we weren’t expecting much. But after tasting the food, we were blown away. These are the best tacos we’ve had in the U.S.—at least since I arrived, and my husband even said they were the best he’s ever had in his life. We will definitely be returning.
The interior is very authentic, like a slice of Mexico. The place is fantastic, and the staff was very polite—they handed us our order with care, which stood out to me since I recently read a review of another restaurant where the employee just nodded at the bag and left. Here, they treated us well, and we can’t wait to go back. We might even return tomorrow. Highly recommended—this...
Read moreI'm genuinely confused that this is what people think "authentic" Mexican food is like. The salsa was, quite literally, tomato soup with a fleck of cilantro and no pepper, onion, etc. The rice has no flavor or seasoning, no cumin or broth within miles. Why in the hell are there olives? Why is there a burrito on a plate? I am left with bone deep confusion that this of all places is where Olympia thinks you get good Mexican food.
The service was good, and begging for proper hot sauce was the only thing that made this vaguely edible. I ended up not even finishing half, and turning it into fried rice at home. You know, with cumin and spices, not a bland La Croix haunting of flavor.
Who thinks this is Mexican food? Is this a white people thing?...
Read moreMoved from Seattle earlier this year. — I am so glad to have found this gem. This restaurant is now officially called “our spot” for lunch or dinner with the fam. Food is so good, delicious, always fresh, authentic and always come in HUGE portions. Some of my favorite items on the menu are chicken/rancheros taquitos, street tacos w/ carne or shredded beef, super charitto nachos w/ steak. Sooooo bomb! The experience is always a good one and we always see the same folks who make the experience a fun one. We feel like fam now. Since the pandemic hit, they are good about staying safe and following COVID safety procedures, which gives people like me some...
