I've eaten at a lot of restaurants, and a lot of those I go back to just because they're consistent, convenient, and moderately priced. Shari's was one of those until Valentine's Day night.
We were in the middle of a 6 hour drive to Portland and my blood sugar was crashing, so we whipped off the highway to grab a bite. Figured it was VDay, so we'd try Red Lobster, but it was a 90 minute wait and Shari's was just across the parking lot and was usually quick and edible, which was all I really needed at that point.
After a ten minute wait to be seated in a restaurant with no more than 6 other customers in it we were taken to our table and brought drinks about ten minutes after being seated and submitted our orders shortly after that. The table tent advertised a VDay special with a small cut of prime rib, some sides, and a slice of pie for like 26 bucks or 46 for 2. But we had seen the sign at the front counter advertising a free slice of pie with any dinner purchase on Wednesdays, so we ordered 3 country fried steaks off the dinner menu with the intent of getting our slices of pie and sharing with the kids after dinner.
While waiting for dinner, an adjacent table asked about THEIR free pie, and they were told that it wasn't offered that day due to the VDay special. It was disappointing, but not enough so to cause us to even mention it at the time.
After waiting ~30 more minutes, I finally had to flag down a server (not even ours) to refill my coffee for the first time.
Finally, around the hour-fifteen mark after ordering food, our server comes and apologizes for the delay. 20 minutes later, the kids burger and fish&chips came out, and my son liked his burger fine but my buddy's kid said her fish was cold. Then two of the 3 country fried steaks come out, and I think all 3 had ordered the same sides. The broccoli was fine, the Mac and cheese was inedibly cold, and the only thing warmer than room temp on either of the first two steaks to come out was the gravy. Meat was awful.
Then 10 MORE minutes pass, the first 2 country fried steaks are sitting at the table edge because they were so cold they couldn't be eaten, along with the fish and chips. Only NOW does the 3rd CFS come out of the kitchen, also inedible and cold. Server apologizes for the delay again, for the food quality, and offers to have everything remade, but mind you we're 2 hours in, hungry, and pretty peeved. So we pass on that and pass on the free whole pie that she offered, and then get handed a bill with a $10 DISCOUNT FOR OUR TROUBLE, even though the only thing that was eaten was my boy's burger, fries, and a couple coffees and sodas.
This particular Shari's was a friggin' disaster and I'll never eat there again, period. I recommend you...
Read moreWe were all excited to come to Shari's Restaurant for Thanksgiving. When we walk to the door there was garbage all around on the ground then we waited inside the door and the doors were dirty the floors were filthy nobody had cleaned underneath those benches in a long time and there was garbage right in the aisle where it would have been very easy to pick that up as you go by when your hands are empty. Then we got our food. I wanted prime rib dip and they were all out so I ordered the fish and chips which was okay but my friend ordered the ham dinner and on your little table tent it showed the ham dinner with three nice slices of ham well she got about five slices of nasty burned ham and the gravy was burned so she asked to have it done again and our server said she would do it herself and then she brought it back out and it was worse than the first one they had put on this great big huge glob of turkey stuffing that was so gummy and wet and yucky it was ridiculous. Plus I had to get up and get everybody some silverware because she dropped the food down and left and we didn't have anything to eat our food with. She acted like she had a little bit of attitude which I know on Thanksgiving they're busy but it was not that bad in there I've been a server for many many years so I know a lot of the tricks here and she didn't have a very good attitude at all. When Nancy told her that the food was nasty worse than the first one it was little paper thin slices of ham that had been burned on the griddle. So Nancy told her she just didn't want it at all it was unedible you would think she would have offered her something else for a replacement on the house because two times it came out disgusting. They didn't have half of their pies so I didn't get my pie after my dinner I even ran out of pumpkin pie who in the world does that on Thanksgiving when you're a pie place. Made no sense to me. Anyhow she didn't even realize I got the silverware and more napkins because we didn't have enough it was just a terrible terrible experience and I would never go back in there for another meal. Sorry to say that but...
Read moreAs my Aunt & I entered the Lacey Shari’s we viewed the pies, & I told her I’m going to fill out one of those pie club cards we saw on the counter so I can buy some pies. I ordered a senior breakfast that showed hash browns on the menu. When delivered it had no hash browns,so I inquired. The waitress said we’re becoming like IHOP & you get either hash browns, French toast or pancakes...we just haven’t changed our menus yet. I thanked her & said this is plenty anyway. At this time I asked for a form to join the pie club, & she instantly told me she didn’t think they had any but would check. She later said she had someone checking on the form, & shortly another staff person brought it to me & I thanked her. I turned the form in when I ordered 1 lemon & 2 marionberry pies. She looked & said she only had 1 marionberry left. I asked if i get it at the sale price of $9.99 & she said not until my club card is activated & the manager has to do that. She then gave me a club card as well as the form I filled out with the card attached. My Aunt, whom I treated to breakfast wanted a marionberry pie & I told her she said they are out. The waitress told her oh we have more. She sold her one right after she told me they were out. And again...she rang it up at regular price right after she told my Aunt she would just use her phone number for the sale price; as my Aunt’s club card was out in the car. The waitress said it’s too late, I already ran it. I was on my way to Port Angeles, (from Lacey) so I stopped at the Silverdale Shari’s & spoke with a very kind gentleman who had to discard the card attached to the form I filled out & write in the account number from the single card the Lacey waitress gave to me. He also sold me 2 marionberry pies at the monthly sale price. I’m concerned about the Lacey waitresses professionalism because she was untruthful about the availability of the cards & pies, as well as overcharging my elderly aunt (I’m also a senior citizen) $3 & some odd cents too much for her pie. Thank you...
