Fú Asian Grill is a delightful, casual Asian restaurant in the Joslyn Museum area of Downtown Omaha. I showed up around 11:30 in the morning and a very friendly gentleman immediately greeted me from the kitchen. I told him that it was my first time and asked for some ideas about local favorites. He happily pointed out the main section of the menu to me, and I noticed one of my personal favorites: Korean BBQ.
I placed my order, paid, and he provided the receipt (about $8 plus tip) and quickly went to work. Very quick transaction--the gentleman knew exactly what I was ordering and needed no explanation.
The food was cooked as I waited, ensuring it was fresh. While I waited, I noticed a "sides" bar that contained another one of my all-time favorites: Kimchi! The gentleman briefly returned from the kitchen to grab something, and I asked him if the Kimchi was extra, to which he graciously replied that it was included (fistpump yes!!!).
A few more minutes passed--probably about 5-7 minutes, total--and my Korean BBQ with Kimchi on the side was handed to me in a very secure, neatly packaged to-go container. We waved a fond goodbye, and I left. Overall, a very easy and positive transaction.
When I returned to my desk at work I opened my meal and dove right in. The Korean BBQ was as sweet as I expected and overall very delicious. And the Kimchi--oh my goodness, the Kimchi--maybe I'm a huge fan of Kimchi, but this Kimchi was excellent! Nice and salty, soft, but just right amount of "crunch" for Kimchi, and just enough of a spicy bite to get your attention. Really good, mild Kimchi--I have a "Louisiana" appetite for spicy food, so other Omaha residents might have a different opinion for spicy foods, but this was great, to me.
So, overall, I loved Fú Asian Grill! I will definitely be back to enjoy their other offerings.
A word about parking: Not super great. There is parallel parking in front of the store and along the sides of the block, but this is mostly a "university" type of area, so depending on time of day or time of the year (i.e. in class) parking might have different results. I noted the traffic conditions indicated in the Google map app which accurately reflected the traffic at that date and time. My advice would be to use the same traffic reporting application to plan your trip. I might be tempted to knock off a half-star for parking, but not really much the owner can do about parking except maybe change locations. And frankly when I went, I did not have an issue with it--maybe I got lucky.
But whatever the traffic and parking is like, this restaurant is definitely...
Read moreWhen we first entered the place with my girlfriend, there was an intense smoke inside such that it was impossible to breathe. I asked the guy about it, and he told me that we can sit outside. But the problem was that there was no table outside at all. Then I carried one table myself as a customer to outside just to be able to eat our food. But after short a while, strong wind started outside, so we had no way but eat inside. But even before we started eating our food that Chinese who works there started grumbling about the table i carried outside even though the place was still full of smoke. (i honestly don't know how the fire alarm did not beep that.) I told the guy that i will carry the table back to inside once we finish our food, but after few minutes later, he came to me and asked me to bring the tables back for the second time while i was eating my food with my gf which is RIDICILOUS. But I preserved my patience, and said okay and - as a customer - I carried the table myself back to inside. However, In order to evacuate the smoke inside, I've left one chair in front of the door to keep the door open, but he even said something about it and ask me to bring the chair for the third time without giving me any chance to do so. I honestly doubt about the mental health of the guy at this place. and yeah, THAT PLACE SUCKS AND DOES NOT WORTH A PENNY.
It does not know how to treat the customers.
If you want to get pissed off with your money on a date, then this place is perfect for that. Otherwise, if you want to get good customer service, DO NOT even pass in front of...
Read moreTHIS is how you do delivery with UberEats! They had it down to a science.
For some background, I travel to 2 to 3 cities per week, for work. So, my schedule has me on UberEats often and my number one choice is always Asian food. Having said that, I’ve been in big cities, small towns and everywhere in between and no one has ever had the whole process down as amazing as these folks!
I’m used to choosing a location based on say a 30-45 minute delivery time and closer to 1.5 hours later I get my food. When it arrives, it’s bleh to say the least. However, this location said 25-30 minutes so I do the math and that should be right about 1 hour, based on my ordering experiences. Not here!
I placed my order and the expected delivery time was at 3 PM. I checked the app at 2:48 PM and see that not only is the order done, but the driver is on the way and will be here by 2:53 PM. So what, right? Well, as stated, I travel A LOT for work and have better things to do than check a food app for estimates or stand outside in the cold, waiting.
How was the food? I’m not just biased because of the excellent food delivery time when I say that it was absolutely delicious. It was hot, had plenty of flavor and was very reasonably priced. I wish more places had the chef staff that this location has and I wish more places would keep to their delivery estimates.
Great prices, delicious food and on time delivery. Highly...
