I have never been disappointed here. I've been here about 3 times total and I'm putting it in the rotation now.
Since this is covid-19 ill get that out of the way first. They observe social distancing here which of you're like me is a touch important and partly the reason I have not put many reviews out lately. Everyone is wearing a mask unless they're actively eating or drinking and you're minimum 6 feet apart. The staff is constantly practicing good hygienics and they are -all- wearing masks. The buser is also always cleaning up after someone leaves, so they're taking all the precautions that they can against covid-19 while still being open.
The atmosphere is a good mix. It's very modern American style in certain places coupled with that charm of a traditional ramen bar. There's a normal bar at the entrance, the 'long table' infront of the 'kitchen', the ramen bar, various booths, and tables all with enough space to comfortably move around in. Covid-19 wise, they're also seating people 6+feet (3+meters) apart. Bonus points.
The food is definitely high mark, it's not 5 star, but that's not why you're coming to Jinya. You're coming to Jinya for Ramen with fresh daily broth, fresh made gyoza, and fresh ingredients with excellent combinations. One of the servers told me they make the broth, pork in bone, and the whole chicken daily. And it shows. You can definitely taste the difference between fresh as nd frozen and this is indeed fresh.
I ordered The gyoza which is one of Jinya's main staples. When you take a bite and look inside at the insides its hand made, it's not frozen, with a lovely golden brown marks consistently on both sides. Served with dipping sauce on a seperate dish and light plating for presentation. 5/5 I got a salad gyoza combo just to try what they would top it with, and the effect is pretty picturesque. It's a sort of umami finish that blends in with the greens to give a taste that outdoes most dressings by miles. 5/5 A toki high ball with sprite to see Jinya's style. It was a good mixture where the bitter of the liquor doesn't offshoot the sweetness of the soda to make the lovely mixture that highballs are famous for. I would add a touch more liquor myself but it's completely understandable as they're a major difference between serving customers and making your own mixed drinks at home. Garnished with a lemon wedge and 1/3rd ice giving a cool refreshing mix that pairs well with most Japanese dishes. 5/5 And of course, The spicy kontantsu(no idea if I'm spelling that right, please be gentle.) Which was a lovely spicy broth, a love mix of crunchy shoots and veggies, thicker noodles, and two lovely melt in your mouth slices of pork that tie the dish together. The dish has a bit of heat but not so overwhelming that it kills the flavors the ramen is known for. This is why you go to Jinya. The price is a $$ according to Google, which I would agree with. I ordered a lot, and many of ingredients are non native, many of which were made that morning or shortly before arrival, and There's a lot of labor in the Ramen, but it shows its a labor of love. The staff is friendly and attentive, but not so much that you are overwhelmed. Just tge right amount.
In short, Jinya is going to serve fresh dishes with a safe smile and fair price for their hard work. 5/5...
Read moreLately I've been doing Doordash pick up. The last few times I ate in, I wasn't so comfortable with the crowd that was in each time. I would go on days like Monday or Thursday which should be dead or decently filled in the dining room. The owner and co-owner I know from Grand Island, NE so I must support this local business as much as the one in Grand Island, NE. My family and friends would go out of the way to support them by eating or takeout.
With that detail out of the way let's get to the food. That's what this review is about. The food is fantastic, I never had anything wrong with my food dine-in or pick up. I'm not a picky eater with dietary problems to ruin what should be as close as traditional. Asian food is unforgivable alone. I would always order the Tonkotsu Black with an extra egg, Wonton Chicken, Pork Chashu Bowl. Always delicious and on point. Sometimes I challenge myself to do something new and I'll switch it up once in a while. But these are the go-to menu items.
The usual server or even owner would always remember you if you come a lot and order the usual meals you like and love. It will never be disappointing as they do their utmost as possible to do so. Sometimes I eat here twice a week just to support. Most weeks are once.
As always support local or good-bye local. Even if some have experience terribly due to sudden closing early or your assumption that it would suit your dietary needs(??) Like... It's not guaranteed to be gluten free. Foolishly its Asian food, it uses a lot of fish sauce as a main source. Japan is what type of country? Surrounded by what now? I understand it can be done but it takes extra time to make your broth from scratch and on the separate kitchen. If you, as a customer, have no patience, go down the street and eat something quicker or cook at home. Do not spit your unwanted reviews because these folks have to deal with and the owner carries out what they can. Workers on the other hand just follow.
Thank you for reading folks. I am not sorry for any misunderstanding these folks have to deal with day-to day base serving the lack of studies and...

So, last night, we went to this sorry excuse for a restaurant for my girlfriend's son's birthday. First of all, my GF has a shellfish allergy, which we asked about immediately and were told that the chicken ramen would be safe because everything was cooked separately, so she ordered that. Shortly after, a different worker came over and informed us that the chicken ramen had seafood flavoring in the broth and that the only ramen option was the vegan broth, which would only possibly affect people with gluten allergies, so she went ahead and ordered that in place of her original order. Once again, shortly thereafter, AND PAY ATTENTION VEGANS, we were now told by another different employee that the vegan broth also had seafood flavoring in it, making it, if nothing else, no longer vegan, but also not a viable option. At this point, said worker went in back and got this giant cross-reference chart, showing that the chicken rice bowl was the only seafood-free option they offered. So, she ordered this now and assumed everything was good. Well, everyone else got their orders and we started eating. About 15 minutes into eating, we realized her food still wasn't coming and, at this point, asked what was up. It was then and only then that they informed us that this too would have the possibility of coming into contact with shellfish, as they were cooked near each other. So, without bothering to tell us,they had just cancelled her now 4th different order and had no options for her...... Oh wait, they offered her cauliflower and only cauliflower as the ONLY option on their menu. She politely declined and went without. We're it me, that declination would not have been polite and, were it up to me, that entire meal would have gone unpaid for. She, however, is a bigger person than I and would not allow that to happen...... Suffice it to say, we will not be going back....... Oh, did I mention they want AT LEAST $15 for a bowl of RAMEN??!! First and only restaurant experience worthy of a review....
