We went for a family dinner to Ray’s wings during the Market nights at Midtown. It was an extremely unpleasant evening. I have been a waitress and bartender so all of this is coming from the perspective of having lived that life myself. The waitress was unattentive and unapologetic. Unattentive is one thing, make up for it with extra water and an apology to check on the food that was taking well over 45 minutes. She took our original drink order and then we didn’t see her at all until 45 minutes later when we went to find her to ask for more drinks. When we sought the manager out he offered to check on our food, told us we were next up to be served but then it took an additional 20 minutes. When we got our food the experience seemed to turn around a little with generous offers from an additional waiter and the manager to get us what we needed. We didn’t see our waitress for another 20 minutes however and again had to find her. At the end of the meal after waiting for 45-50 minutes for food with 4 little kids my husband brought our bill to the manager to discuss his displeasure with the service. Like I said, having worked in the Industry I have LOTS of sympathy for busy nights and slow kitchens. But it was the treatment of my husband that warrants a scathing review. In all the establishments I have worked in if the kitchen is slow and the wait staff is unattentive aka a disgruntled patron, there is a way to make amends by offering a discount on the bill. When my husband asked about this possibility, not wanting to pay full price for less than 100% good service, he was rudely accused IN FRONT OF MY CHILDREN of cussing at 3 wait staff during the visit. Not only did we not even SEE three wait staff during our stay but never would my husband ever use foul language in front of my children. The manager accused him of lying, cussing and ended our horrific experience by asking my husband to not return to his extablishment. Ray’s wings is a terrible example of good food industry service and customer service. Needless to say there will be no returning to this establishment with unattentive staff, mediocre food, and a manager with an egotistical, god complex who is clearly there for the money not...
Read moreI think I found my new go-to spot. We had an awesome server the night I went and, in general, all of the staff was friendly and attentive. The inside of the restaurant was nice and clean with plenty of TV screens if you want to watch a game plus they have a great patio for when the weather is nice. The beer/drink list was decent and pretty much what you'd expect for a sports bar. On the food side of things, everything our group tried was very good and the wings themselves were excellent. We started out with an order of the sweet potato fries and the jalapeno corn nuggets. The fries were good but the corn nuggets are where it's at. Would definitely recommend. I liked that the appetizers were a little smaller sized and priced accordingly. One would be enough for 2-3 people and for larger groups you could try two or three things without racking up a huge bill. Wing-wise we tried both the bone-in and boneless with a few of the sauces. The bourbon Sriracha was very good but my favorite was the original sauce charred style. I think it is one of the best wings I've ever had. I also liked that you can choose different heat levels for each sauce so you can try any flavor as hot or mild as you want. Speaking of sauces, our server informed us that all sauces are made in house including the ranch and bleu cheese dressings which is a good touch. If you don't feel like wings, the cheese steak sandwich was very good as well. They also had some burgers that sounded good and I will probably be trying at some point. All in all we had a great time, loved the food and didn't have any complaints. I have a feeling that I will be going...
Read moreI had originally gone to Midtown Crossing tonight to have the fajitas at Pa Mas, but discovered they are closed on Sunday and Monday. I already paid for the parking, and I am a little lazy and didn't feel like walking very far, so into Ray's I went.
Got to seat myself and a waitress was there with a menu in seconds. Got myself a Pepsi and poured over the menu. It was around 5:30 and the happy hour specials were on. Sadly, the curly Qs and onion rings were out, so I went with the good old Cheese curds. They were just the right amount of crispy and reminded me more of the ones at Cheddars than the ones at other local places.
This place is obviously known for its wings. They had like 18 flavors rated from hottest to not-est. I don't do heat well. So I went with 3 of the basics. Got a 5 wing basket each of the honey BBQ, sesame teriyaki and the Lemon Pepper dry rub. The Honey BBQ was my favorite of the 3, and the teriyaki second. The lemon pepper was a bit too tangy for me . The dry rub overpowered the chicken and made me feel parched. 2 big glasses of Pepsi went down like a fat kid on a seesaw while I was there.
Got the house salad as well. Lettuce was fresh, ranch was decent and not overpowering. Onion would gave been better in slightly larger pieces and a bigger quantity. (I really like red onion in salads)
Prices were very reasonable and it was a good...
