We will never return to this place. We had dinner at a fabulous restaurant in downtown, the Flatiron and decided to try this place that my friend recommended called the Wicked Rabbit for an after dinner drink. We told the man working the door that we were a party of 6 but only 5 of us were present. My husband was traveling home on a flight from San Diego and would be joining us. The man offered us seats multiple times but we kept turning them away because the couples in our group wanted to sit as a group and not be split up. After turning the door man down multiple times, he finally said we have a corner table that will accommodate your group of 6 and even joked about 5 people being present but my husband was still in the air. We accepted the table and went in after waiting 45 minutes. Upon entering, our server was less than friendly. I asked about a wine list because the menu said to ask the server. She rudely told me that "we are not a wine bar, we only have Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon" which suited me fine because I just wanted a glass of wine. After our drinks and cocktails were served, my husband texted me to tell me he had arrived but they would not let him in. I told him to tell him the man that he was the 6th person we were waiting on and he would know. I approached the bar tender and server to tell them he was here and asked them to let him in as well. Their response was that he had to wait until they had a seat available. I was confused because we had a seat open at the table and had specifically told the door guy that we were going to be a table of 6. So I went out the exit and walked around to the waiting area. The waiting area was full. I proceeded to tell the door guy that my husband had arrived and was ready to join us, pointing at my husband in the back of the group. And the door guy's response absolutely floored me. He said he couldn't join us because he had to wait for a seat. Seriously? We had passed up multiple tables, waited longer, just so we could get a table for 6. I told the guy I had an open seat next to me specifically for my husband and his response was that they didn't have any seats open at the moment and he would have to wait. I was so upset at that point and I was done dealing with the BS. I told him to let me back in the lounge so I could get my purse and we would leave. He motioned at the door and I had to push the fake door open myself. Our group checked out just as quickly as we arrived. I asked for our bill and we promptly left. People in the waiting area were horrified at the door guy's response to me. At least 8 people who were waiting turned around and left after hearing what was going on. Wise choice. We are a well traveled, well educated group of people that are very particular about the places we dine, drink. I understand the fun of being an exclusive establishment but at some point common sense and good customer service have to take over. This place has neither. We will never return to this lounge. I wish our group could have reviewed the drinks but we didn't get a chance to enjoy them. What a shame. And I wish we would have been informed of the line policy before we waited for 45 minutes for a table to accommodate...
Read moreIt is an amazing setting with a high end Alice in Wonderland vibe. It's dark, romantic, and the perfect setting for a drink. I'd recommend the bar if you like to watch. The bartenders are talented.
You enter through a liquor store that is a front at the art deco Hotel building. No one seems to want to tell you what it is (even other guests waiting in line). Everyone suggests you go to Google and figure it out. We witnessed this like a strange conspiracy and decided to also not say anything unless we missed the memo.
There was a line when we got there, but the wait wasn't long. I've read the complaints on other reviews, where they said they did not know when they could get in. It's max capacity and they cannot control how long a patron will sit unless they are willing to kick someone out. Since they aren't (who wants to get asked to leave right?) They can't give a time estimate. That made sense.
The drinks can be magical. They specialize with 3 drinks that are on fire. They are artisans, so if the 3 do not appeal to you, you can make special requests and still receive the fire but in a different form.
The bar was dirty when I got there. My hair and my shirt (which ended up being stained) was wet from whatever leftover liquid was on the lip of the bar. When asked to have it cleaned, a bartender passed a rag so I could clean it myself.
My first drink was magical when I gave some direction. When I gave the bartender leave to make whatever they wanted, it was more plain and left me not wanting to order another. I'll admit my expectations are higher in a place like this.
I would defintely recommend checking this place out. Cocktail prices are set at $13, which is higher than most in the area, but in part, you are paying for the ambiance. They are craft cocktails made with fresh ingredients, and with bartenders that should tend to you more. This place is what you make of it. Take advantage to talking to them as that is part of the price of admission. Service was professional.
There was an attempt at this in my home city, but this was executed better. We had a few kinks, but if I return and they are one time issues, I would...
Read moreSite would not let me leave a ZERO! A quick edit after reading the response with a few observations from our short time at the Rabbit tonight. We cannot believe the RUDE, unprofessional treatment. Omaha has always been such a welcoming and inviting place. About 8:00 PM 10 of us lined up for a fun outing. We are a large group and made our way into the bar area and some to the rear seating area while others admired the surroundings. Not everyone heard the critical instructions which would impact our team receiving 3 strikes a little later. There is a captivating atmosphere after all and lit appropriately for the vibe however a few of us have poor night vision and used the light on our phone to read the menu (based on the owners response this was our first strike. There are seats on both sides of the seating area and our group sat down along both walls (strike #2) and were asked to sit together, which we easily did. We had other friends (8 - 10) who we asked to meet us and mentioned they were on the way when the male host / server seemed shocked that others would be going to their bar. we did not increase our party size we remained a group of 10. we were informed “well you should have booked out the whole place, we can’t seat them” (although there was ample space in the area and at the bar. Given the overall poor and rude engagement part of our group began to exit the same way we had entered (strike #3) this is where The “shrill and loud” apprentice bartender (What does it mean when someone is shrill? betraying some strong emotion or attitude in an exaggerated amount, as antagonism or defensiveness. marked by great intensity) lost all sense of composure and screamed at our group! please find another place to spend you’re hard...
