After being in South America, I was desperate for a latin fix and super excited to hear about Cumbia! The indoor environment is beautiful, bringing a natural and almost psychedelic feeling. You instantly feel elevated in the experience - fun, playful, relaxed. I found the menu options to be very fun, with a blend of Argentinean food, Colombian, and more - you need to try the Argentinian fried cheese! As a big fan of mezcal, tequila, and imported Mexican beers - the drink menu was perfect. I gave the Oaxacan old fashioned a go, and I'll warn you - it's not for the weak! It's smokey and warm with hint of sweetness from agave. It had tequila and mezcal, and I most definitely felt it quite quickly, but I consider that bang for your buck! My friend went with the Mexican lager from kinkaider, which I also tried for my second drink. It was light and smooth. I'm still learning the language of describing beers, but I'd say "fresh". We split the guacamole with plantain chips and MAN I could have eaten a whole bag of those chips! They were perfectly salted, long strips, and thick rather than flimsy. To top it all off, our server Noah was fun, patient, and conversational. A kind server like them really makes the experience that much more homey. A beautiful environment that makes you feel welcomed into the environment rather than only a customer. I will be returning to Cumbia, and I'm glad Omaha is blessed with such...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverall, decent. Beautiful decor and environment. On the heels of reopening though, service needs a little work on getting to the next level. When we entered, no hostess was available to meet or seat us for at least 10 minutesā¦looking around itās because the only one seemingly available worker on the floor was also doing double duty as a server plus hostess. We were seated and ordered cocktails but no water for the table ever came even though we asked for it. Server eventually remembered towards the end but we were near done eating. Also, our tapas arrived with no individual small plates for group, and the server left immediately for a while. Thus, we were there just eating from the tapas serving dishes direction until we could eventually find server to bring plates. Not really a big deal, tapas is about sharing but without our own little plates it was hard to share things like the tacos, etc.
We ordered cocktails: -Negroni: very well made, balanced -banana bread: perfect amount of sweetness, rich
Food -ceviche: the whitefish was tough. Itās probably because the ceviche is pre-made and the fish is sitting in the lime juice a while. Doing that will really toughen up the texture and this made chewing the white fish tough. The flavors of the mango salsa and leche de Tigre were good though. -pork belly tacos: DELICIOUS. -patatas bravas: the carnitas were cooked well with a nice crisp....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe restaurant's atmosphere is nice. However, the service was disappointing. Our server made a mistake with our order and was rude when we politely inquired about it. We ordered five different items. When the food was served, we initially thought all five items were there, so we started eating, but later we suspected that one item was missing entirely. When we brought it to the server's attention, she checked and placed the order for the missing item, but did not clarify anything with us. One of the items we were already eating turned out to be a similar item.
When the check arrived, we noticed six items, including two orders of the same dish. We asked the server about the extra order, she simply brushed us off, saying there were two orders. When I confronted her again, explaining that we only ordered one of that item, she changed her tone and sarcastically asked, "Well, did you eat it?"
I understand that mistakes do happen, and we are okay with it even if we have to pay for that extra item, but the server's rude attitude and unaccountability were unacceptable. If you made a mistake on your order, please own it and not just pretend that we ordered it. This was a very insulting and...
