I travel to Auburn on average once a year to take classes for my job. Previously my classes were always held in Auburn but, recently, they’ve been moved to Opelika. A coworker of mine told me about a chicken biscuit I have to try during my stay in April. She said it was a “fried chicken fried biscuit.” I asked her to explain. She said, “they literally fry chicken tenders and fry the biscuit then put the two together. It’s at Jim Bob’s.” Well...it wouldn’t be acceptable to not serve fried food at a place called Jim Bob’s. So, I take her advice and try it because I trust her judgement. I got a chicken biscuit combo with a coke, some special sauce and it came out about the same price as a Chick-fil-A biscuit combo. Less than $6. Woooow! Ole Girl wasn’t lying! That junk was AMAZING. Don’t get me wrong, I could feel my arteries shutting down instantly, but it was worth it. The chicken biscuit is good. I only took a few bites though because I filled up on the giant 8 crispy hash browns. Their hash browns are the best I’ve ever had. They have the most flavor and are perfectly golden brown and crispy. You must try them with their special sauce. Now, I went again the following day and orders a cinnamon roll, hash browns with special sauce and bacon. Bacon deep fried isn’t my thing. But the cinnamon roll??? OH. MY. GOD. It’s better than a hot and ready Krispy Kreme. Yes...I said it. It truly is a melt-in-your-mouth wonder! It is so soft on the inside that it dissolves in your mouth like cotton candy BUT, it’s deep fried and has that flakey crisp like a funnel cake on the outside! It’s my go-to now. I came back this month for another class and oh yeah, I’ve been by for breakfast. Going again tomorrow. It’s the best. I have had their lunch once (boneless wings, fries, celery & ranch, and fried pickles). It’s okay and better than BWW in my opinion, but breakfast there is where it’s at. And like previous comments, the staff is wonderful. So sweet. So helpful. So patient. It’s the definition of southern hospitality there. Your grandma couldn’t make you feel more welcomed or make a better breakfast. And the price is very fair and comparable to Jack’s - won’t break the bank. Try it. Love it. Thank me later. Well done, Jim...
Read moreDefinitely will not be back to this location, me and a couple of people went Saturday evening after attending an event, We got there around 8:28 pm and we knew we wouldn’t have long to eat since they close at 9:00 pm, but my friends got their orders within a few mins and myself and my son did not, it took a little while , we’ll long story short we finally got our food and we were trying to eat as fast as possible, so my friend asked one of the girls working if it would be ok if we finished our food really quickly even if it was a few mins after 9? We assumed it may be ok since they were cleaning up anyway, she told us she wasn’t sure and asked the “manager” we hear her say “there’s some people wondering if they can finish eating really quick even if it’s a few mins after 9” and be LOUDLY says “WHO?!” And she point at us , and then he says “WELL, WE LEAVE AT 9:00!” Very rudely! If you LEAVE right at 9:00 according to them then only do to go orders after 8pm? Just a suggestion! None of us were rude or disrespectful at all, but the staff working that night definitely was! We were extremely uncomfortable the entire time, we were given attitudes the entire time, and stared at awkwardly.. it was just weird and we definitely won’t be back to this location at all! It had been a long exhausting day and we were just trying to have a nice peaceful dinner , and that just wasn’t the case at all , we ate as much as we could within the few mins we had and got to go boxes and just had to take the food with us.. I understand you close at 9:00 but there’s no reason to be rude and make people feel uncomfortable.. The “manager” that was working that night needs to be retrained , he does not know how to deal with customers very well, he never even spoke to us , we could just hear him talking loudly to one of the other workers , they were only about 10-15 feet away .. Do better Jim Bobs!!...
Read moreWings are usually great but today they were extremely greasy and weren’t cooked to order. They seemed as though they were left over from yesterday and warmed up in the microwave. DISGUSTING! Update: For some reason, my 7 year old daughter loves this place…🙄 I guess that’s because she gets the Little Lamb plate with the chicken fingers and subs the fries for the cheese sticks. I will say those two items are pretty good but anything else not so much! Especially the huge wings/drums. I asked for flats because the drums in the pic were well see for yourself in the pic. The young lady Alayna was very rude and made a big deal out of it. She didn’t want to touch the wings and asked for my receipt…although my child likes the Little Lamb plate, I will not be returning and if so it will be drive thru! Alayna needs more training in customer service… lucky for her she was a child is all I can say. Do better Jim Bob’s! The cashier, black young lady, was awesome! Give her a raise. I wish I had...
