FABULOUS BREAKFAST ! It's been a while but we're back. My wife and I are big fans of Bluestone Lane having been to 6 locations on the East and West Coast. This one is the closest to our place in Irvine. We arrived in the area around 8am but it took us a while to find a parking spot due to multiple streets closed down for a classic car show...must be a regular event. After a short walk we were here and it was dead as a cracker. We were the first customers. A sweet server named Bri gave us a big welcoming smile. NEW MANAGER ! And then I met Kento the manager / barista who explained the Sunday car show kills early morning business. I had a lovely chat with Kento who impressed me as a real genuine guy. FIRST UP ! Kento got 2 x 12 oz Cappuccinos with 2% milk going for us. We made ourselves comfortable at a table towards the rear of the cafe. Bri came by to take out brekkie order. We both ordered BL BIG BREKKIES ( avocado, bacon, 2 poached eggs, baby kale, tomato, mushrooms & olive oil on multigrain ).....my wife asked for scrambled eggs ( no prob ) and I requested HARD poached eggs and no avocado. Our beautiful looking cappuccinos arrived courtesy of Kento...we asked for some sugar. Just love the cocoa sprinkled on top. TOTALLY DELICIOUS ! The in house coffee is Bluestone Lane's Maverick which is an award winning coffee. We love it ! Our breakfast dishes arrived courtesy thanks to Bri.....they looked MOUTHSATIONAL. My wife's scrambled eggs were as fluffy as can be and my poached eggs were hard just the way I like 'em. I asked Bri for a Cold Pressed Orange Juice which arrived quickly in a tall glass and tasted great. MEANWHILE ! The classic car show out the front was winding up and people were steadily streaming inside for breakfast. Kento mentioned to me that fresh house baked croissants were coming out shortly. My wife bought 2 for home and they made fabulous ham & cheese sandwiches for lunch. CAN'T WAIT...

Ordered the folded chimichurri eggs, which were delicious, perfectly cooked and tasted great. My friend and her child also enjoyed their food. Unfortunately, the biggest downside was the service. Despite being only one of three tables present, two of which had already received their meals before we ordered our own food, the server seemed keen to get us out of there. We had our entrees for less than 5 minutes, when the server came to drop off our bill for the table, did not ask if we were looking to order anything else. However the server did say an obligatory brusque "no rush", but it was very clear, by the appearance of our plates, that we were not even 15% into our food. Prior to ordering we asked for two checks, the tab had not been split. Toward the end of our meal my friend decided she wanted to order another side of fruit for her child and I wanted to order something sweet. We did so, it took a concerningly long period of time to receive two items which required no cooking, at this point we were one of two tables present, the other table had already paid out. Again, the updated check was dropped off almost immediately. At this point I asked the server to split the check, helped her divide the items, she practically ran away before I could ask her for a box. Very unwelcoming vibe, we were obviously being rushed out, despite the cafe being practically empty and our table continuing to order. Despite the beautiful aesthetic inside the cafe, and the delicious food, the unwelcoming vibe of the service made it an unpleasant experience. There are other cafes in the immediate area with good food and infinitely...
Read moreNEW KID IN TOWN ! We are big fans of Bluestone Lane...this is our 6th location we have visited on the West Coast and the East Coast. My wife and I decided to head here on Wednesday to pick up a bag of Maverick whole roasted coffee beans...and have lunch. We arrived in the area around midday and scored a lucky parking spot in a free ( 3 hours ) public parking lot nearby. The cafe looked pretty quiet when we walked inside at 12.10pm. SURPRISE SURPRISE....no Maverick whole roasted coffee beans on the shelf. We sat at a booth style table towards the rear of the cafe. A server named Monsie came by to take our lunch order...2 x LATTES...no 2% milk so we settled for whole milk and 1 x CLASSIC CHICKEN & BACON CLUB ROLL ( lemon garlic chicken, chimichurri mayo, avocado, arugula, tomato & bacon on brioche...served with wedges ) to share on 2 plates. The cafe gradually started to fill up...fast ! I ran into Nick the manager who apologized for the 12oz bags of Maverick coffee beans being out of stock. He suggested we might enjoy the Sweater Weather 2022 seasonal blend....I grabbed a 12oz bag. Our lattes arrived pretty fast, looked great and tasted fabulous....they use Maverick for the house coffee. Our Classic Chicken & Bacon Club Roll arrived with 2 plates. I thought it tasted alright...nothing amazing ! We thought about something for dessert but their pastries and cookies in the front display case looked very boring. NO LAMINGTONS ! Given that they opened recently right next door to an established coffee shop these guys are kickin' serious butt. The coffee shop on the corner was almost empty when we walked back to our car but this Bluestone Lane cafe was packed out....
