J's Soul Food — Restaurant in Orange

My FIRST and LAST visit to this place, it came recommended by a few people but after my experience I have to question their reliability. On 12-21-18, arrived at 12:04p, there was only ONE person working the register and tables. Our order was taken after about 15 mins of waiting. It took maybe another 20 mins to get the drinks to the table. After more than 45 minutes of waiting the food came out and they were out of biscuits. They did not come back to the table and let us know, they just brought out wheat toast and then said we are out of biscuits. As far as I am concerned if they had told me this before the food came out, I would have paid for the drinks and LEFT. I am sure they knew and that is why they did it that way. TOTALLY the wrong way to handle business. I felt USED as a customer and I don't fall for this more than once. Yes, I am making a big deal out of being out of biscuits but that is not the point, the point is HOW THEY HANDLED IT. YES, I would have left over this.

I can't tell anyone how to spend their money but I will say STAY AWAY from this place unless you enjoy POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, HAVE NOTHING TO DO FOR HOURS AT A TIME, and don't mind being LIED TO about the FOOD that is Available. I will say the place was FULL so I guess there QUITE A FEW PEOPLE who don't mind waiting for over an HOUR for food. Very few choices in the AREA so I guess PEOPLE...

My mom tried J's for lunch came home and I couldn't help but go back lol. Number one the customer service is amazing I went around 425pm and even though they close at 5pm, I was still able to order so much and it was all fresh. I got a dinner platter with chicken and three separate orders of chicken wings and ally food was fried fresh nothing that was sitting in a warmer. I loved the welcoming service it's honestly what made me order so much the young lady so was nice patience and even explained how the chicken orders go. She didn't wait for me to greet her she greeted me. The biscuits are a huge success id def get a breakfast sandwich on them bad boys lol. My chicken was fried fresh and to perfection my potatoe salad was the best I have had out in a while and I grabbed a chocolate cake slice for a snack I ate the whole slice in one sitting. The cake is amazing very moist the fudge icing is perfect amount for the cake and the cake you can tell is homemade because this cake ain't like no other. I wanted to go back tommrow but they closed on Tuesdays. J's need more recognition this place is a HIT. Also I love the owners decoration choice the artwork on the walls are inspirational. This was my first time to this location on yesterday and it was horrible..I was told that this location was better than the one in Montclair...let me start off by saying the staff is very rude and unprofessional no customer service skills for both locations..I sat where I can see the kitchen in both places and ugh..none of them wore gloves making the food,the girls were sitting ppl taking orders,getting dirty dishes and then proceed to cook..I witness the girl touch everyone's food with her bare hands and put it on the plate then touching her hair..had to send my food(Whiting breakfast)back 2xs because my fish and homefries was floating in grease on my plate, I asked for biscuits and they were dry and old , fish tasted like old fish or frozen Whiting from shoprite..asked for toast and it wasn't toast it was like they put sliced bread on the grill without the marks and had scrambled eggs on it and I didn't order eggs..only to informed me that they only have one grill and they cook everything on it so I had eggs mixed in with my toast and in my hashbrowns.
