Coffee Rush — Restaurant in Oregon City

The Good. Owned by local people, but yes its a small chain. Convenient, I have been here 5 or 6 times out of shear connivence and my laziness combined lack of other coffee places in the close by area. Good interior, not fancy, not awkward - not a million laptops. Some casual seats and some tables. Nothing fancy but above the basics. Some good pastries. A few outdoor seats. The owner is nice, spoke with her a few times Barista's are generally pleasant and welcoming. They have gelato and sandwiches (both I have not tried) by they are options.

The Bad. Terrible coffee every time. I think this all starts from the bean they use. I don't think the barista's are at fault, but you can tell they purchase a lower cheaper grade of bean, im thinking a 12 or below, as its just not producing the quality. That maybe combined with an inferior roast and poor storage - not sure. But don't expect great coffee and you will be ok. Warm and brown - with lots of milk if you like. Because the taste is poor for the price paid - I rate it as overpriced Word to the wise, don't order shot or a cortardo theres not enough other stuff in the drink to mask the poor roast. Go for a larger volume drink where the milk will hopefully mask the coffee.

If you want to grab a coffee to go, I would strongly suggest Dutch Brothers which is a block away. Although I am not a Dutch Brothers fan, I will say that their coffee is better value for money. They are less expensive and as good if not better in terms of flavor and quality.

I really hope this place starts buying better beans, it would make a big difference and people would be able to tell. Who knows they might even get some of the Dutch Bro's...

Walking into this coffee shop, the ambiance is beautiful. Their Gelato is beautifully displayed and high quality. Their customer service and food take you in an entirely different direction. As a person who has a food allergy, I was appalled at the fact that a sandwich I ordered came with extra ingredients that were not listed, and then when I asked the employee her response was "yes, that's how we make them here". When I told her that I couldn't eat this, I handed the sandwich back and the employee did not issue a refund or make any apologies, rather just continue to state that it was the correct thing that I paid for. Although I was not able to eat it and it was not listed properly...

Rarely do I ever leave such a low review, especially since the coffee was good BUT:

There was a hair (short black curly) in my friend’s pastry The staff had to call the owner to get options to make it right. I left before a final resolution was offered. My morning caffeine fix was served decaffeinated They limited change to a DOLLAR for the two of us to feed the old school street parking meters. I’m guessing they want their seats to turnover quickly. They could easily get all the quarters needs at the bank down the street.

There is a surprise up charge for half&half.
