About 20 years ago, I lived on Oahu and used to drive up to the North Shore for these amazing breakfast burritos. As a burrito connoisseur, I have searched nearly weekly since then for a breakfast burrito that could rival my experience in Hale’iwa.
Today, I struck gold!
I found this place while searching for burritos while my truck was getting serviced. A short 40-minute walk from Gladstone led me to this absolutely charming restaurant. The pictures online don’t do it justice. The place is surprisingly spacious inside and absolutely gorgeous.
On to the important part… the burrito to end all burritos!
First, as you can see in the pic, this thing is YUGE, yet well put together so it can still be consumed handheld. The spices and seasonings and combos of flavor are nearly indescribable (my mouth is watering as I write this, even though I am stuffed!). The initial bites were very cumin forward, and in a good way. There was something else I couldn’t quite place. Initially, I suspected anise, until the owner told me they use sausage with fenugreek and fennel. Yep. That was all I needed to know, and it clicked! The homemade salsa verde was a tad on the spicy side, but not overpowering. I thought the salsa was amazing, but it could be a bit much for those who are sensitive to spiciness.
I absolutely devoured this burrito and wanted another so bad! Thankfully, my brain and my belly overpowered my taste buds… As I relished every bite of this heavenly delicacy, I washed every third bite down with their absolutely delicious chaga-infused iced latte.
This is seriously the best breakfast burrito I have had in over 20 years, and I will be back! Given how amazing my meal was, I’m confident everything on the menu is amazing. But I don’t think I could ever come here and not get the BB.
Thank you to the Watershed for the amazing gastronomic experience. And keep up the great work!

Read moreThe space is clean and well kept people kept the tables bussed. It was incredibly busy during our visit which was not an issue. The problem is that the food is minimal for what you pay for. I bought a field greens thinking I was getting a salad. Not the case. I got a 1/2 cup of chopped romaine lettuce, 1/2 cup of large chunk purple cabbage and a few slices of radish and pickled onion with a heavy hand of watered down lemon flavored vinaigrette. To add insult to injury (financially), a lot of the cabbage and romaine had very brown slimy spots and bitter indicating it wasn't fresh. We were asked to share a table with the owners "friends", which was fine, but they came in about 10 minutes after us and received their food about 10 minutes before we did, all of them having ordered a full breakfast when we were a smaller party with one person ordering a bagel, that was just toasted with cream cheese on the side and essentially a small plate of lettuce. The third person in our group did order a hash, but still not as much effort was needed for our meal than the "friends" sitting next to us. The wait staff was mostly friendly, but we had to serve ourselves water and ask for utensils. We won't be coming back and cannot understand the high praises in the reviews...
Read moreTLDR: great matcha, fresh yummy food and a bigger-than-it-looks casual yet cozy atmosphere with good ambiance.
We liked it so much we went two days in a row while in town visiting family. The first day we ordered beignets, two different matchas, an everything bagel with scallion schmear and the chia pudding parfait. The next day we got hot cakes, more beignets, a breakfast burrito, a breakfast sandwich, chais and the yogurt parfait. Let me start by saying the beignets are fresh and delish but the house made granola is the star of the show. Really loved the chia pudding parfait, the breakfast sandwich and burrito were both good as well. The hotcakes were the only thing that didn't get rave reviews but that could come down to personal preference on texture, my mom found them less fluffy than she hoped and somewhat sticky/gummy. Overall, the three of us really enjoyed the atmosphere and food (emphasis on the granola and beignets), we were quite impressed with the quality of the matcha. I've actually personally bought that brand and don't think I've ever had a matcha that rivaled my own, so that alone was a huge highlight of my experiences. I'm excited to go again next time I'm...
