So this is our “home” McMenamins, and we have had pleasant enough experiences in the past. However we went to lunch last week and had a super disappointing time. Nice first interaction with our waitress while taking our order- and once drinks are delivered we hear nothing from her as we wait… and wait… about 15 minutes after we put in our order a group of 20-25 elderly ladies comes in and sits down. Another 10 minutes goes by and they are all served a variety of specific orders and we still don’t have our two simple burgers. Waitress still hasn’t come by. Confused, I go up to the bar and ask about our food order, because we ordered WAY before this party came in. And she (rudely) said this party comes in every week and puts their order in ahead of time and it got sent to the kitchen just before ours. Okay. I worked in food service for over a decade and this is straight up bad policy. Who is running expo? If you have a room full of people that are bumped down the list and our food just isn’t made- we are going to be pissed when we see a giant party get their food immediately upon arrival. At the very least the order should be fired WHEN they sit down so anyone who already ordered will get their food before they do- or you have a manger running expo to make sure the short orders are made- or you have servers that communicate to the customers to explain the slow down and sound at least a little bit apologetic/offer an app to tide you over or whatever— NONE of that happened. Read moreThe female redheaded server was extremely rude and condescending. In all my years of eating out, I have never been TOLD I can't order food. She came to our table and asked if we wanted to order any drinks, I was actually excited to order from their new Sundazed option but what happened next was so off-putting I wanted to interact with her no more than I had to. I asked if we could order food too and before I could even get the whole question out, she interrupted me, and said "No I'm not going to take your food orders right now" as she was moving her hands around. Making a scene. She finished by condescendingly staying "you know because I have other tables and I need to get their orders too, so yeah okay." I felt her annoyance... her rudeness was so present it made me feel absolutely awful. If she could have just said let me go ahead and oit your drink orders in and I'll be back in a minute to take your orders that would have been so much nicer. I understand she may have a method to how she does things. But again, I'm sure a lot of other servers do as well, and I have never been rudely told about it. We’ve been on a quest for a while to get as many McMenamins passport stamps in order to complete our passports, so we have become fairly comprehensive observers of all things McM. The menus and food are fairly consistently good across the board, and atmosphere has always been great, but service from one McMenamins to the next can vary wildly. Unfortunately, we’ve noticed that service over the last bunch of restaurants & pubs have been lacking no matter the McM’s, so our expectations have been ratcheting lower and lower. That changed with today’s visit as our server Elise hit it out of the park. Simple things like not having to ask for utensils after getting our food (happened the last 3 visits!), extra water to fill our bike’s water bottles, Elise being there exactly when needed (but not hovering), and the server and manager having a great attitude made our visit on 7/19/2025 a joy.
