Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Orland Township

This was the last I thought I would write a bad review about! Me my husband always loved the burgers here! This was our last resort from the "major fast food chains" In the past, I could never say anything about this place...until now. We ordered thru the drive thru the single cheese burger w bacon,fries and a small drink.The order takertoo so long to get our order. She kept repeating our order, to us, almost three times for clarity I guess( We were dissappointed because the dining area was closed). There were two cars ahead of us and about 10 minutes later, the car ahead of us, just backed up and drove off. We got to the window at about another minutes or so and read us the wrong order . We told about the car leaving that was in front of us and it was their order. What seemed like eons, we finally got our food. We pulled over into parking just waiting to take a bite of that burger... When my husband and opened the box to our "bacon" cheeseburger..boy! Were we dissappointed!,, The hamburger had shrunk..and upon picking out of the box, never in my life have I even felt a scorching bun on a burger! I had to drop in the box just to let it cool off! My husband picked up burger ...ketchup and mustard was dripping out burger like Niagara Falls! Finally I picked up my burger hot but still pl to touch...mine too was dripping with ketchup and mustard, Upon investigating the meat, it was about as flat as 1 dollar bill! This was the worst burger I ever had at DQ. I though they could do no wrong! The taste was awful too. My Sprite was full of setzer water but the fries were ok. Dont know what happened to this place. It was really a horrible experience. If people dont want to work...or people do come to work ...why did the food turn became awful? Wont be going back and I'm glad we not order ice cream..God only know when was the last time they cleaned that machine. Sad..had such good food...

I ordeed a royal blizzard called the Royal Ulitmate Choco Blizzard. The girl says she doesn't know what blizzard I want so I tell her it's the Royal Blizzard that's Chocolate. She says "oh that doesn't come out until next month so we don't know how to make it". I told her that all it is is a Chocolate Extreme Blizzard with a center of fudge in the middle and asked her if she could just make it for me. Long hold while she asked her manager. She returns and says her manager said it comes out next month so they can't make it.... then I just order 2 chocolate extreme blizzards.

When I get to the window to pay the girl comes up to me with a calender and tells me that this is what they use so again my blizzard isn't coming until next month. I again explain that it's on your website and it says that this location has it so why are you showing me that calender?

Then the manager comes to tell me that the website is from corporate. Oh really? I tell her. So doesn't that mean you should have it? She said she doesn't know how to make it. I said again it's a Chocolate Extreme Blizzard with the fudge in the core. If you can't put fudge in the core for me then went are you talking to me?

I mean seriously are you kidding me? It's from corporate so we don't go...

I have been a regular patron of this Dairy Queen for the last 14 months and an overall supporter of the brand for 33 years. Recently, my mother and I stopped in for two cones via the drive through and learned something has seriously changed with this Dairy Queens ice cream. For the first time in all of my years enjoying these delicious dairy treats, something was wrong. Their ice cream was not only different, it was WRONG. The ice cream made both my mom's and my tongue tingle like it had touched it to a 9v battery. I have a strong belief that there were cleaning chemicals left in the ice cream OR perhaps they have changed the recipe to cut costs without considering the taste. I tend to believe the former. Regardless, i wont be going to this DQ anymore. I say that with deep personal sadness, i have always held dairy queen in high esteem. The local ownership has allowed this place to bottom out and its truly a shame. The zit faced, cigarette smoking teenaged staff didnt bug me. The apparent lack of cleanliness never turned me away. All of that and more would have been fine if the ice cream quality remained the same. This DQ has YEE'd their last HAW in my eyes and I grieve...
