Nothing Bundt Cakes — Restaurant in Orland Township

Ugh. What happened?? Did they change bakers??

We started purchasing from the orland location last summer and the gluten free choc chip was fresh tasting and decent. In order to get a gluten free bakery cake for my family and entertaining, i tolerated the idea this cake is loaded with maltodextrin (on label they provided me)

But this last month i came in to purchase some buntletes with coupon. Got them home and they were quite stale. A week later i went in, told them so and that while i thought it might be an isolated incident, i wanted to purchase a gluten free birthday cake. The woman there said shed get me "one from the fridge" to ensure it would be fresh. (???). I thought thesr werent supposed to be refrigerated, but oh, well, i trusted she knew what was fresh better than i.

I opened box later only to discover cake appeared shrunken and much smaller than usual. We put the candles on, and hoped.....

Upon cutting into it, the caked appeared gelatinized and doughy. Just awful. Thete was slso an aftertaste, similar to sweet and lo. Two kids complained it made them feel sick. Not in a spoilt food way, but just blah. I had a few bites and ended up throwing away the rest of mine. Not worth the calories, thats for sure.

So sad to see yet another business in my area that opens promisingly, with good product initially only to faceplant shortly after. id think keeping up with quality control in an area with high demand and exposure would be a priority. I mean, its just.....cake and virtually one frosting. I dont know if its a factory supplier problem or if the cakes are actually baked there. I never smell "baking" there, so not sure what the issue is. I was under the impression the cakes were at least frosted there.

Just really bummed i lost a source of "bakery" cakes for those...

I recently bought a few cakes from a festival this location had a booth at. I was telling the people how much I loved the cakes and didn’t know where to buy them so I was excited to see the booth. I said I was going to buy a lemon cake and my daughter went to grab it and the man told my daughter “not to grab that” and started fixing all the cakes in an exasperated way. The lady asked me if that was “all I was going to buy” and I said yes but then added another cake that my son wanted. As they were packing my cakes I told them again how excited I was but they weren’t friendly and just acted dismissive of me. There was not a line behind me either. I understand people can have a bad day or not feel in the mood to have small talk. Just sharing my experience and how the customer service rubbed me the wrong way. I have nothing bundt great things to say about this location!! I placed an online order for Mother’s Day and anticipated it would be super busy the day of my pick up. I did have to wait in line for about an hour but due to Covid-19 circumstances I understood this may happen. All the staff I worked with were super friendly and helpful. The manager and staff on duty today did an amazing job. My order was perfect and looked delicious. I want to send a huge ‘Job Well Done’ to everyone working 5/9/20!! The staff were running around to get names and orders ready as best and as fast as they could. Many customers were openly rude and they took their criticism very well and were very polite to all. I would definitely use this location again for any future events.
