I've been a loyal Von Maur customer for many years and today was my first ever bad experience, but a bad enough experience that I felt compelled to write a review. In an attempt to pick up an item from the curbside pick-up I dealt with the most unprofessional and rude customer service staff that I have ever dealt with in retail, to the point of tears. The customer service representative on the phone would not provide the proper directions to where I needed to park in order to pick up my curbside pick-up items, but instead told me that I needed to go to the "Von Maur entrance" and that I couldn't possibly be at Von Maur(an image of my location is attached). She would not allow me to speak and interrupted as I explained where I was then argued with me that I "obviously wasn't where I said I was" then also told me that I didn't know what I was talking about as I explained that I was waiting at the door that I have always utilized for curbside pick-up. I then waited over 15 minutes before calling the customer service line again to speak to a manger who politely answered my questions and helped direct me to the proper entrance only to have another rude customer service staff who believed herself to be outside of my earshot make rude comments about me to the other customer service staff. If customers are expected to know which door to park at, staff should be able to and provide the courtesy of properly directing customers to the correct location. I normally shop at a different Von Maur location and after the horrible customer service experience at the Orland Park location, I will be sure to not shop at this...
Read moreI like Von Maur better than it's rival stores in Orland Square Mall... I'm not there often but when I have, I've been greeted nicely- and I didn't have to go searching for someone to help me find something like a gift, for checkout, etc. Polite service that's around but not hovering. It's just my personal taste but it seems they are a bit more conservative with 'fashion' and have a lot of good business-casual options, plenty of sizes available for a 'normal build' I've often had to hunt for at the alternative mall anchor stores. I also noticed they also carry clothing from a couple harder to find brands I like. Sure you can shop online for most things but call me old-fashioned. When it comes to clothing I prefer to try something on if I need to, not have to buy it, try it, return it or order a couple best guesses and deal with returns. One and done! What originally got me there was the convince as it's right across from my Oncologist' office. Bonus, maybe they're not always there but whenever I have gone, they usually have a good piano player... It's just pleasant place for some 'retail therapy' after treatments. TMI... It is what it is. I typically do all my Christmas shopping there for my mom & three sisters. Easy. And can't forget to mention once more- the staff is very polite helpful in that regard (helping to find things for the women in my life who, other than maybe jewelry, I not great at...
Read moreToday as I went shopping for shoes for my daughter for Easter, I experienced flat out racism! There was a lady in the shoe department, I didn’t catch her name, but the date of this review being written is April 12, 2022 at 11:15am.
The lady within the shoe department assisted me with my shoes and grabbed the pair that I requested. Once completed, I let her know that I have what I need and walked to the checkout counter. There was then an older lady that requested her assistance.
As my husband and I stood and awaited for the lady within the shoe department to check us out, she walked over with the older lady and stated “I’ll be with you in a moment.” She then proceeded to make us wait while she assisted the older lady on the opposite register.
The lady in the shoe department never followed up to say someone else will be right with you, she simply walked away once she was done with the older lady.
I am disappointed that this is still a normalcy to subtlety express your displeasure with the color of...
