I've been going here for over 2.5 months. From the beginning there were a lot of warning signs that the store's manager (who basically doesn't exist) and/or it's owner (fast frwd and I have to point the finger at the owner) is failing its employees. The employees are kind, but they are left on their own without direction. There is no consistency in the atmosphere for example it is typical for certain employees to blare deafening music, sometimes vulgar music. It is very typical for employees to talk inappropriately about their personal lives and their work difficulties to one another, speaking above the music, and without mind to the customers. One employee says an item isn't available, the other tells that it is, both run around trying to find it. Items are made unavailable, and nobody knows when it will be available and customers aren't warned before waiting to place their order, or until the end of the order. Employees uncomfortably struggle to respond to customer's disappointment and inquiry as to when it will be available. It took weeks to get film for the camera they use to promote their dog-friendliness by photographing pet dogs and showcasing them on their wall. Their iced coffee has a strong, overwhelming, pugnant, taste like floor cleaner, like floral pinesol. I could not bare it even when I tried and thought that very well there was something that had contaminated the iced coffee. The employee working tasted it for himself, also recognized the flavor as I did, and then continued to serve it throughout the next day explaining "we don't sell a lot and I can't do anything" and then going on about the inability to get proper response for anything from the people in charge. I asked how to contact them, and was told to reach out through IG, which I did, and explained what I had been witnessing and this issue, and no response to me either. I walked in the other day to the most humble young woman slaving over online orders and counter orders during the morning coffee rush, because somebody called out the night before and while the boss said they would send someone, they hadn't and she had heard no update. The AC went out and employees were left in sweltering conditions behind the counter with again, the people in charge nonexistent to oversee their well being and to consider the work conditions. I have no blame to put on the employees, the lack of consistency shows one thing- BAD management, be it by the nonexistent manger, or the owner who is never around. On top of that, the "panini" is like freeze-dried bread that was inflated by microwaving it. There is no grill, crisp, nothing, and not worth it. The ham and cheese is pretty good, same issue with the bread despite it's supposed to be a baguette. You can't go wrong with the muffin sandwich although it is considerably small for the cost. Croissant is good. They do have glasses and mugs for in-store customers, but they won't offer it to you, but instead your drink will be served in plastic, so do be aware you can ask for the glass. The girls are all very sweet and caring, and only one of them remembers to give the discount, which I noticed two- one being a neighborly one and one being for service members and first responders(former military myself), and they also do not all ask for your phone number so you can get your points if you are like me and don't prefer to carry your phone in your hand and rely on apps for everything at all times. again, just that lack of consistency. STil each employee has something special abut them that I appreciate. Would like to be able to rely on a nice sit down environment than to find out when I get there it won't be an option due to the music, volume. Internet is fast. Chairs are comfortable. Good outdoor seating, and as stated-...
Read moreI came in for the first time on 3/14. When I walked in I was never acknowledged and the two workers were tinkering with the cold brew machine. Eventually the gentleman came to the register and stood there... didn't say one word. I ordered and he seemed irritated that I ordered a cold brew since the machine was acting up. I told him I would get an espresso drink instead if that was easier but he never acknowledged my offer. I ended up with a watered down cold brew and didn't feel comfortable asking for something else as the two workers seemed put off already. I chucked it up to them having a bad day.
I went again today 3/15 and was greeted with a similar experience. No one said hello or acknowledged me and my son when we came in. I ordered a cake pop and another cold brew. I had a coupon for a free coffee but was told my total was $6.39. I asked if the cake pop was that expensive and the young lady said, "Yea, I don't know what to tell you." She had already given my son the cake pop so I ended up paying almost $7 for a cake pop.
I don't normally do these reviews but I felt compelled. I do hope management sees this comment and maybe offers some retraining to some of the employees on customer service and how far a smile and...
Read moreMy go to spot for high quality drinks (and more) with high quality, pleasant, friendly service every time :) from humoring my weird notes or requests via app orders, to even helping me with a scavenger hunt I sent my significant other on (I left a "hint" for them to hand him with his pickup order that day) - the staff is lovely AND the actual coffee is delish - even for decaf drinkers like me.
I also love how they try unique, fun culinary flavors that sway from the typical "popular" seasonal things, too - like by using different flavored bitters and more global or cultural flavor profiles. I lived in Winter Park when their first store opened years ago and there's a reason it has quite a few all over the state by now. Let's be honest, it's a little bit of a splurge - but they often give bogo gift card offers and have a great point system if you download the app.
The only suggestion I may give is to have a high quality matcha offered that isn't a matcha "mix" with the added sugar. Pure matcha powder (not sweetened) is a rare find in coffee shops and would definitely make them stand out a little more.
Regardless, definitely great to have in Ormond and I recommend trying out!...
