Our nephew just moved to the city a few months ago, and when we first moved him in we wanted to try this place, but it was a Sunday afternoon after church and there were people waiting outside to get in, so we went elsewhere. That seemed like a good sign, it must be good food if people are willing to wait to get in. This past weekend, we visited on a Saturday and we ate a little later (3:00), so it was far less busy. There were 4 of us eating, we ordered BBQ ribs/chicken, jumbo shrimp, a black forest sandwich, mostaccioli, and fries. Soup (Minestrone, cheesy broccoli), salad, mashed potatoes, and mixed veg came with the meals. Honestly, the food was so bad that I have to do each dish justice by going through one by one. Soup - this was probably the highlight of the meal. Even though it was very clearly from a can, it was at least edible. Ribs/chicken - We've never seen ribs with a more comically absurd amount of sauce on them... There was seriously at least an inch of goopy, flavorless bbq sauce on them. The chicken was so dry we thought it was maybe lost in the oven for a few days. Shrimp - this was the closest dish to being passable of the bunch. Though again, it was very apparent that the shrimp was frozen and not breaded in house. Mostaccioli - We joked that you almost have to try to mess up pasta this bad. The noodles were wet and soggy and definitely not boiled in the past few days - the sauce was flavorless and very watery. Black Forest - again, a huge disappointment, it was cold, flavorless, and was supposed to be grilled, but was clearly not grilled well. They also garnished it with a pickle that was so old it was almost white. Fries - limp and soggy, no crispiness, and definitely unsalted. Mashed potatoes - Yikes. Instant potatoes with canned gravy - barely warmed up. Needless to say it was not touched. Vegetable side - We joked about this one all the way home - Not even sure why they bothered bringing them out, because they definitely should not have been. The big joke was that they have fresher veg in prison - because these were canned and almost all the color had been boiled out of them. The restaurant was clean enough, the service was efficient, though not very friendly. It was probably one of the shortest restaurant stays of my life, there was a ton of uneaten food and they couldn't have paid us to take the left overs with us. Needless to say, we will not...
Read moreThis place really pissed me off. I'm in town for the night at the hotel across the parking lot. I decided to order takeout off their takeout menu at the hotel. They have a list of specials for $5.69 that come with a soup or salad, potato or rice, veggies and dessert option. I should have known.
I call in my order at exactly 9PM asking for the $5.69 special and was never told that didn't exist. When I pick up the order, I'm charged $8.86. The girl's response was oh, I'm sorry, we just realized the takeout menus are wrong. It's actually $6.69 and after 9, the price goes up and I didn't realize it was after 9 (keep in mind, I called at exactly 9). So I got charged an extra 50% over what was advertised...no price change and nothing saying the price goes up after 9. But what really irritates me is that the girl never said any of that when I called and asked for the $5.69 special. Why I paid for this food is beyond me. And why I felt bad for her working in such a dump and tipped her is even more beyond me.
Then I got back to the hotel and realized I was given no takeout silverware. How am I supposed to eat my steak without a fork and knife?
And now after describing the outstanding service and honorable advertising actions of the establishment, maybe I should mention the food:
French Onion Soup - inedible Chopped Steak - Just ok. Extremely salty. Hash browns - Pretty good, but wasn't given any salt and pepper for them. Tapioca Pudding - Surprisingly Good
All in all, this restaurant lied to me and then screwed me with nothing to eat my food. If you're restaurant shares a parking lot with a hotel, take a guess as to who most of your customers are. Clearly, I don't have a kitchen here.
I feel like a moron for eating here. Maybe this place needs 3 brothers involved to understand how the restaurant business works. I'd starve before going back to a...
Read moreToday we were in the Oshkosh area and saw the sign for Two Brothers and thought we would try something new. I'm gluten sensitive so I asked the waitress if they have gluten free options. She said she didn't think so then pointed at the Lo-Cal salad and said, we have this. I understand that those of us with gluten sensitivites or gluten allergies can't expect all restaurants to have a bunch of gluten free options but, another family restaurant in Fond du lac called Schreiners, has been around for many years and provides gluten free options. And even if they didn't have gluten free products on their menu, the waitesses have knowledge of what on their regular menu does and does not contain gluten. And those waitresses are much older than the waitress we just had at Two Brothers. Regardless, I changed the gyro platter without the pita. I had thought something seemed very spicy when I started eating the gyro meat with the tzatziki sauce. I have come to see over 2 hours later, there was so much garlic in it that even right now I can taste it as if I just ate a whole clove of it. The fries tasted like they were fried in old grease. Also, I believe in ordering the Gyro Platter, I had a choice of dessert. Our waitress didn't offer it, just dropped the bill on the table. During the multiple times she walked by, she didn't take the half eaten salad bowl that was in the way, not even after she set down our meals. I will say the portions were great and I actually like the setup of the restaurant in general. However, I'm so sickened right now by the overwhelming garlic taste in my mouth that I don't see a need to go...
