I recently got to experience the Ale House in the Maitland area and had my expectation set pretty high since I had a great turnout with delivery and in house dining there. I had the same expectation for this location, but unfortunately did not have the same turnout. The water tasted terrible, the food was ok, and the service was good but lacked a bit. I was intrigued by the rib and shrimp combo but when I inquired if my shrimp could be grilled instead of fried I was told that my request couldn’t be accommodated but the waitress couldn’t explain why. I’ve worked in restaurants and the service industry and knew that my request wasn’t that unreasonable. I sort of pulled a “Karen” and went inside just to ask why I couldn’t have my shrimp grilled instead of fried. So, another waiter explained to me that it’s because of pricing, they are able to offer a rib and shrimp combo for $19.99 because of the shrimp they use for it. The shrimp they fry comes in bulk and frozen and is why it can be offered at that price. Whereas the shrimp they grill is supposedly fresh shrimp, although I still wasn’t offered the alternative even if it were to come at an additional cost. For an ale house this is a lengthy review and not typically a place you go for “fine dining”, but there’s a lesson to be learned here for those who have dietary restrictions. My biggest disappointment wasn’t that they couldn’t accommodate my request, which is part of it, but that my waitress was not able to educate me as to why. The service was also a little slow. I ended up ordering the full rack of ribs, which I had at the previously location, (delivered by the way), and the quality did not compare. I wouldn’t suggest to not go here, but honestly I prefer the Maitland location...

Read moreWhen we arrived we were seated right away. The place was nearly empty. The server came shortly to take our order and she was very friendly. That's when things started going down hill. I went to restroom and it was filthy and smelled of urine so strongly that a literally gagged. The waste bin was overflowing. It took a very long time to receive our order which gave me time to notice how filthy the restaurant is. When the food finally arrived l, my wife's wings were nice and hot and she said they were delicious. I ordered the zingers with fries. They were dry and cold. The fries were old and cold. I tried to eat it anyway but after just 2 bites I decided I wanted my food recooked. The server never came back to check on us so I had to sit there watching my wife enjoy her food. When the server finally came and I explained the situation, she never apologized and asked if I would like a fresh order to go. I declined of course and mentioned that if she would have only checked on us, everything could have been corrected and I could have eaten with my wife. Again no apologies and no manager came to the table. Again it was not busy. I included pictures of the empty restaurant and of the filth. I remember when Ale House was locally owned. Back then it had a great reputation for great food and a great value. It's sad how bad...
