Update: The last several times at Bricktown have largely been good. Still a problem with acoustics and noise, but the food and service have vastly improved.
Been to Bricktown Brewery a few times since it opened. First time was great, but that was partly the novelty of someplace new. Last few times have been fairly lackluster. The burgers are good, well cooked and flavorful, especially the Kitchen Sink and Neuske Bacon burgers.. The huge plate of nachos are certainly a tablebuster appetizer, and pretty good. The fish and chips are pretty solid, but I've had better at other places in town, namely Kilkenny's. Probably the one thing that always pops to mind when I hear 'Bricktown Brewery' is the fried cheese curds. These pretty much rock. Only problem is they're never enough for a table. For once in my life, I'd like a restaurant to place apps by the head... so I could get x appetizer for $y per person. Ordering 2x an app because you're a family of 4 is not only ridiculous, it usually exceeds the cost of another entree. Which brings me to one of the two things that generally keeps me away from Bricktown. The value. If you've read my other reviews, you know I don't mind spending good money for a good meal, but it damn well better be a good meal. Cheese curds aside, Bricktown has never fulfilled that requirement for me. I always walk out feeling like I overpaid for what I got. The other drawback, and probably the one that most often influences my decision to drive on by Bricktown is the noise. Too many hard surfaces, and hardly an effort at managing the acoustics of the place. One of my biggest pet peeves for any restaurant, anywhere, serving any kind of food, is whether or not I can carry on a conversation with my family. (see my Full Moon Cafe review). If I can't converse with my wife sitting beside me, or my kids sitting across from me, then there's not much left to do but eat, and that really detracts from the entire dining out experience. Bricktown is like eating in a subway concourse at rush hour, and I just don't like that much noise. So, to recap.... food is good, if not a tad overpriced (again, just my opinion), service is usually acceptable, but the noise is horrible. Definitely would NOT recommend this place for a large party where you're occupying a table for 8 or 10, unless you want to spend all night talking with whoever sits...
Read moreIf I could give less than one star I would. The good, the cheese curds we ordered and my burger were both excellent. Now the badâŚ. From the second we walked in the door the service last night was absolutely atrocious. There was a wait, which is expected. No biggie. But, we started seeing numerous groups get seated before us that came in after us, we say something about it and they say âoh we were about to call youâ no apology no nothing and just walk us to a table and walk off. Then we finally get a waitress, had to wait until well after our apitizer we ordered got to the table for them to finally remember silverware and napkins, after we had asked twice for them. Then itâs a while since we seen our waitress, my wife asks one that walking by (short bobbed hairs blonde with a face full of piercings) very snidely rudely âIâm not your server yours will be hereâ then, my wifeâs grilled chicken sandwich is so spicy hot (itâs supposed to be just a regular grilled chicken) itâs like instant hiccups 2 bites in. I tried it myself and I love hot stuff. And it was too much. Especially when itâs not supposed to be spicy. Waitress then tells us âwell itâs because they use peppered baconâ when the menu clearly says candied bacon. Even it if was peppered bacon, the chicken was slathered in some kind of seasoning to the point you canât even taste the chicken itself. So do they offer to make her another one correctly? Not at all. Just tells us âthatâs how itâs madeâ and moves on. We have ate here many many times before and never had an experience and horrid as this. I wish I knew what their corporate number was so I could call. $60 dinner to be treated like crap by the waitstaff is 100%...
Read moreI am extremely frustrated and saddened by today's events. We have been loyal customers of your's since day one. We eat there at least once a week, I have doctor meetings there, we order your food for staff meetings, and recommend you to everybody. Our waitress was awesome, she always has been every time we are there. Our food was good as usual. However several of our orders were wrong. The worst part was for my 83 year old grandmother she has celiacs disease. So we ordered the burger on a gluten-free bun and no sauce. We took it to her she ate it and a couple hours later she was doubled over in pain. It even said on the bag what we had ordered. When we called the restaurant we were not wanting money back, we were just wanting to let them know that they need to be aware that these issues happening in their kitchen today. So, they could be careful and make sure it didn't happen again. Because this could severely hurt somebody or kill them. And when we ask to speak to a manager she just said oh do you want your money back? We said no, we just want to make you aware of the issue so it doesn't happen again and make somebody severely sick. Her response was well you should know the difference between a regular bun and a gluten-free bun. This is extremely infuriating as no, you should be able to get your orders correct as ordered and trust that the food we order is correct. This is completely unprofessional and honestly I don't know that I will be back or any of my businesses will be back. Purely on the unprofessionalism and lack of care or concern on this managers part. She should not be a manager. Happened today Sunday...
