Daylight Donuts on 86th — Restaurant in Owasso

Feels a little weird to write this, because the service and people are so good at this location. The staff is appropriately friendly, polite, and quick. That said, something needs to change with the donuts… at least the type that I get.

I’ve not noticed this issue on regular style donuts (like glazed, for example, which have been perfectly fresh), but the quality of the cinnamon sugar twist-style donuts that I get for my family is severely lacking… and this isn’t the first, second, or even third time that I’ve noticed it.

I’ve got a donut shop about a block away from my house that I like to visit, too. His cinnamon sugar twists are fresh. The ones I’ve got at Daylight on 86th have not been fresh in the last handful of times that I’ve tried them. Yes — it’s on me for doing this over and over. What can I say? I’m not a fast learner, I guess.

Anyway, it’s like the cinnamon sugar twist donuts are chewy and not fresh at all… I would equivocate the experience to that of eating (what I would guess that) two or three day old donuts that have not been cared for in a way that preserves freshness…

This issue could well be due to frying times or how they are processed after frying; I have no idea, really. But they are really bad. That’s the only thing I do not about them.

Like I said, their round donuts are great. Sausage rolls are great (although a bit expensive for the size of the product) — we’ll chalk that up to the fact that I always feel like I could eat like 5 or 6 of them, if given the opportunity. Good stuff. But, yeah — the ones that I get… it’s like, when you bite into them, your teeth cut into the donut and as the bite down, the donut compresses until it really can’t anymore… then you just have a compressed bite of a donut. Something ain’t right about that.

Alright — there you have it: that is officially the most I’ve ever written about a donut or...

IF I COULD LEAVE -5 stars I would $30.08 for 9 “LARGE kolaches” (as the kid in drive thru quoted them) 2 chocolate milks 2 sprinkle donuts and 1 apple fritter…. I regret not checking my bags before delivery the LARGE kolaches to a group of grown blue collar men at work only to find they are hot dog sized sausages that have been cut in half AND that the “apple fritter” was a pancake pretty much 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ve been to most of the 50 states and eat donuts more than the police so I’ve definitely had my fair share of different styles and that price woulda been fine but never in my entire life in any donut shop I’ve ever been in my entire life in any state have I ever seen them cut the sausages in half ever!! Hell if that’s the case don’t ya think you should call them HALF A LARGE KOLACHE and charge half the price absolutely the worst rip off of a daylight donut I’ve ever...

My son and I went in to grab some donuts before school the other day. While the donuts here are good, I was frustrated to see the itemized receipt upon leaving. We were charged $1.00 for two cups of ice water (something we've never before been charged for here). While I don't agree with charging customers for cups of ice water, she should've let me know when I asked for them, since most businesses have no problem providing customers with a free cup of water. I also noticed on the receipt that we were charged a "service fee"...essentially them passing along the credit card fee to the consumer. Not only do I find it ridiculous when businesses do this, but it is illegal to not notify the customer. She never once mentioned either of these charges.
