Certainly! Here's a positive review for The Miller House:
During a recent work trip to Owensboro for our company, Bell Bank, my team and I had the pleasure of dining at The Miller House. A local team member recommended it, and it turned out to be our first introduction to traditional Southern cuisine. From the start, the atmosphere was inviting, and the crabcakes were exceptional, far exceeding our expectations.
What truly made the evening special was the outstanding service we received from Joseph, our fantastic waiter. Given that it was everyone’s first time dining here, Joseph took extra care to explain the menu options and patiently answered our questions, even the quirky ones like, “Do you serve biscuits at dinner?” His knowledge about The Miller House and its unique offerings enriched our experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, which were a delightful change from the cuisine we’re used to in North Dakota. Joseph went above and beyond by sharing the history of the establishment and the city of Owensboro, a place that’s beginning to feel like a second home for those of us frequently visiting our Owensboro branch.
A standout feature of the restaurant is its split-level dining service, offering an elegant scene on the main floor and a more casual yet inviting atmosphere in the downstairs bourbon bar. This versatility makes it perfect for any occasion.
I can confidently speak for all six members of my team when I say The Miller House truly has it all: excellent food, great drinks, exceptional service, and a rich history. I highly recommend dining here for your next business meeting, night out with friends, or even just a pit stop...

My wife picked our first time visit a for a romantic Valentines Dinner. Upon arrival, I had the impression that the atmosphere was romantic and the Staff was nice.
My wife and I were interested in the 10 ounce NY Strip Steak for $25. However this steak came with mashed potatoes. We wanted a baked potato that came with the 8 ounce Sirloin Steak at $21.
When asked to substitute the mashed for the baked, we were told it would be a $1.5 each up charge. I found this to be very ridiculous. To charge more in order to exchange one potatoe (mashed), that took more time and effort to prepare for one that took less time to prepare (baked).
Yes, an additional $1.5 isn't very much when compared to $25, but it was the principle that management are so unwilling to cater to their visitors wishes without applying a penalty.
My wife and I both settled on the $4 less Sirloin Steak in order to get a baked potato with out being penalized for a simple potato exchange. This Sirloin Steak also came with Green Beans. And to make matters worse, these Green Beans were practically raw. They were "cooked" in the fact that they were warm, but they were very crispy and chewy. We couldn't finishe eatting them. I have never been offered Green Beans like this before and I hope to never be again offered them again.
These two incidents actually caused us to not fully enjoy the rest of our special occasion dining experience. And thus, we most likely will never return.
The management could really learn something from Bob Farrell's Book, "Just Give 'Em the Pickle" about restaurant customer...
Read moreI've visited The Miller House on multiple occasions since moving to the Owensboro area and my experiences there have consistently been very mixed.
The good: The bar area (admittedly the only area I've visited) has a very relaxed atmosphere. If you go with a group it's very easy to lose several hours sitting and enjoying the feel of the place. The staff is generally friendly and attentive. The bourbon selection is unparalleled in the area.
The weird: Make a reservation. Really. It's not because they don't have open tables... they often do. It's because they really don't seem to know how to deal with walk-ins. On our first visit we walked into an empty bar (literally one seated couple in a room full of tables) and asked to be seated. They took about five minutes (not exaggerating) looking at the reservation list and the seating chart before telling us that we could have a specific table "for about an hour."
The not-so-good: I have yet to be impressed with an entree that I've eaten here. My last visit was on St. Patrick's Day, as my wife was excited to have the corned beef and cabbage. I opted for the New York strip steak and - frankly - it just wasn't very good. It was a thin cut of meat very unlike what you'd normally receive from a butcher or a steak house. It was incredibly salty, as were the mashed potatoes, and this is from someone that uses soy sauce as a condiment.
tl;dr: Great atmosphere, pretty good appetizers, and excellent bourbon selections. Come for the atmosphere not...
