Gramps Coffee & Donuts — Restaurant in Owensboro

Do not hesitate. Go to this place for a great treat! You’ll not regret it. Master of gourmet donuts!  Stopped by this place for a box of donuts before heading back to St. Louis. Drove there because of the positive reviews. Got a variety pack so everyone could have some. Didn’t think much of it, but then after one bite, my husband and I immediately looked at each other with wide eyes and we both went, “OMG. What is this? Why is this so gooooooood?” The dough alone was AMAZING. So much depth to the taste. It was like a perfectly coiled croissant that’s been deep fried and covered with generous amount of delicious icing. All made from scratch I think! Ok now, the icing, I cannot praise more. It’s way more sophisticated than just sweet. I don’t know what’s in it, think it is a cream cheese icing... Seriously, it’s absolutely delicious! The price is more than fair and it even has a parking lot right next to it for your convenience.  I’m not kidding. These are the BEST donuts we ever had! I hope the owner see this review. He or she should be very proud of himself/herself. Thank you for making such delicious treats and taking care of your customers. If we knew it would be this great, we would have bought more to share with family...

The donuts were very good, but no gluten free options. However the staff was so rude and unfriendly we will not go back…we were the first people of the day and you would have thought we were their last customers. From the first encounter with the prickly pear that opened the door without so much as a hello. If you don’t want to be open at 7:00 don’t be open at 7:00. The manager was equally as rude, there seemed to be some tension between the two employees and unfortunately they took it out on us…so much for southern hospitality!!!

To be clear, if you actually took the time to read the original review, we did not refer to the older gentleman in our original post, he was very friendly and we thought he was a patron just like us…the young lady and the middle age woman were the two employees that we were...

We absolutely fell in love with this place!! Cozy atmospher exposing the history of the building beautifully ( over 100 year old ceiling and bricks uncovered). Speciality Coffees and croissant donuts were so delicious! Everything was so clean! Owner and staff were so sweet and worked quickly on our order. Loved that they have their own parking as well. This made it easy for our family to get in easily. If you get the chance to experience this place, do it! It was amazing all around!! Wish more places were just like this one!

If I could add 2 things it would be this: 1) Warmed croissant sandwiches. 2) An old school map to let folks pin where they're from. We would have added Dallas/Ft Worth TX, and Columbus GA!
