Was passing through town, looking for a traditional Mexican breakfast and the reviews for this place looked great, so I gave it a try. It was not busy AT ALL when I arrived, just one couple eating at the time. The waitress was friendly enough, and attentive. However, I was interested in Juevos a la Mexicana, which is pretty standard at all Mexican restaurants. They did not have it on the menu, but something similar that had shrimp in it called Juevos Cancun? I believe that's what it was called. Anyway, the waitress said she could have the chef prepare what I wanted sans the shrimp. I asked for chips & salsa and she informed me it was an additional charge of $3 which I said was fine. Unfortunately, the chips were quite stale, not tasty and obviously not made there. Very disappointing as "chips & salsa" is my favorite snack. Additionally, the salsa was terrible, about the worst I've ever tasted in a Mexican restaurant. I'm not exaggerating. And I'm a Mexican salsa connoisseur. The Juevos a la Mexicana were passable, not great. There was a different salsa that came with the food and this was also not good. The beans were a little too watery for my preference. Overall, I was sadly disappointed that this nice looking restaurant with a traditional Mexican atmosphere got it so wrong with the food. A few additional patrons came in while I was eating and everybody seemed to be happy and enjoying their food but perhaps I just selected the wrong item. Although, if a Mexican restaurant cannot get chips and salsa right, it's probably downhill...
Read moreWe stopped here after trusting the mostly positive reviews, but it was such a mistake. Like others have said, yes the salsa is extremely watery and appears to be a few chunks of onion and tomato swimming in green or red water. The salsa they use for the chilaquiles tasted stale and canned. They advertise fresh tortillas but we saw them taking them out of a branded store bought plastic bag. Everything seemed to taste stale or bland, including the omelette. Parts of my chilaquiles were ice cold and others super hot as I was eating it. The beans are really not good, they had a bad aftertaste. I was not informed that they contain lard even after I ordered soyrizo with my dish! I only ate a few bites of my meal and immediately had a stomachache and a headache. You would think that the waitress would ask if something was wrong after the entire table did not even eat half of their food, but she didn’t ask. As others have commented about the bathroom, yes there is mold and debris everywhere. I really don’t know how others have had a...
Read moreI am very disappointed in this place.
The first time I came, I was excited to try an authentic Mexican place near me. Since I don't eat pork, it's always challenging to find a place that doesn't cook with lard.
The manager was in and he was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the chilaquiles and he offered fresh beans instead of refried beans to accommodate my needs. I was very pleased and the food was very good.
The second time I came, he was not in. I asked for the same, fresh beans instead of refried. The server said they have never done that and can't, and was not willing to help at all. Having come a week before and getting it fine, I knew they could and explained as such, yet they refused. She wasn't rude or anything, but them flip flopping on what they can do is very disconcerting.
If you have no dietary restrictions, I highly recommend. Their food is good
If you have even the slightest of needs though, go elsewhere. I will not...
