Does it get better than Elva?
From recommending seasonal flavors to noticing the moment you have a new regular favorite, Elva makes each experience a memorable one. I have no idea how she remembers the exact flavor and size you order out of the many customers she serves every day. She's patient and always provides the same level of amazing customer service no matter if there are 2 customers in the store or if the store is crowded with a large convention/event rush.
While the ice cream is more expensive than a whole pint you could easily pick up in a grocery store or CVS/one of the hotels nearby, I consistently choose this location because of the experience I get. The personalized touch Elva adds to each visit is priceless, and it's what sets this Ben & Jerry's location apart from the Old Town and Wharf locations.
Elva's skill in recommending seasonal flavors is unmatched. She always knows exactly what to suggest based on your previous orders, and I've never been disappointed. Her genuine enthusiasm for the product is infectious, and it's evident that she truly loves what she does.
In a world where customer service can often be lacking, Elva is a shining example of how one person can elevate a simple ice cream purchase into a delightful experience. I can't imagine regularly going to any other Ben & Jerry's location. Keep her happy because she is the star of...
Read moreHad two big problems while visiting this Ben and Jerry's last night. First, we have a GroupOn punch card for 8 ice cream cones that we bought over the summer. When we went to pay the cashier told us that the new manager was no longer accepting the vouchers. This is ridiculous, the store sold the punchcards and is now not honoring them. In essence this location stole $30 from us.
Second, we got ice cream last night and it was windy and cold out. We have twin one year olds. After ordering the ice cream we stood in an empty corner of the store to try and feed the boys. Given the weather there was no way we could sit outside and keep the boys clean and warm while eating ice cream. We were told that you are not allowed to eat in the store. We spent over $20 on three ice creams last night.. Had a horrible experience overall, despite the cashier being friendly and the ice cream tasty. Dumb policies by management have made this an...
Read moreThe waffle cones are the flimsiest, thinnest waffle cones I've ever seen. I could quite literally hear them cracking slightly as the man behind the counter lightly pressed the scoop of ice cream into the cone. Then, as my boyfriend and I were eating, ice cream started oozing out from tiny holes in the cones--that's how thin they were.
And as other reviewers have mentioned, the prices here are much higher than any other Ben & Jerry's I've been to (downtown Boston, Dulles Town Center, etc.). I understand that National Harbor rent is probably quite high, but paying just under $10 per small waffle cone is a bit much.
There is some good: I was here during day three of a rather large convention (MAGFest), and Ben & Jerry's managed to not run out of any flavor, unlike some other restaurants in the area that had run out of particular menu items. It's also a Ben & Jerry's, so like any other, the...
