Given that we are in Southern Florida and not one of the New York Boros, there are an awful lot of pizzerias around here. There are independent Mom and Pop owned shops in virtually every strip mall as well as national and regional chains and franchises that are both cheap and expensive. Among this crowded field of entrants is Anthony's, and frankly it stands out as among the best, IMHO. Anthony's has a simple menu of pizza, salads, a few focaccia-based sandwiches and a few starters, combined with a few family meal options. This is wise given that their focus is then on their stellar pizza. It's of the thin, crisp variety with a bold tomato sauce with a modest amount of cheese and ample toppings when applicable. Keep in mind that it's cooked in a matter of moments in a 900 degree, coal-fired oven. That means that the crust might develop blackened blisters or have especially crisp, slightly singed parts. That's just the nature, and part of the complex flavor, of the cooking technique. My family often opts for a meal deal that includes a large salad and one-topping pie. The salad is huge, allowing for two to have ample salads or four to have small ones! It's dressed with olives, garbanzo beans, eggs, wedged tomatoes and other goodies atop fresh romaine. For the 16" pizza I've found that the perfect topping is the thick-cut, cup pepperoni that provides a spicy kick with a meaty chew. Oh, and don't forget an order of flavorful garlic knots to satisfy your carby-cravings. 😉 Anthony's is perfect for quick delivery, curbside pickup, or perhaps best when your can dine in and have it fresh from the oven. I never thought a small, boutique chain would be among my favorite pizzerias, but Anthony's has really surpassed all expectations and is tops for me.

Yes, Anthony's is a chain pizza restaurant, but that shouldn't deter you from indulging in its cheesy pizza-y goodness! I've been to Anthony's several times and each time the service is generally consistent and friendly, and the food is really delicious on top of that. I've had several dishes from Anthony's from their pizza to their wings to their meatballs. The pizza is a thin crust pizza and all of the ingredients are so fresh and tasty and there's such a big variety of toppings. I generally don't like thin crust pizza, but Anthony's is good because it doesn't taste burnt. The wings are surprisingly good here considering the fact that this is a pizza/Italian joint. Anthony's makes some of the best wings I've ever had, period. They're not greasy and they're juicy and full of flavor, no matter what seasoning or style wing you get. During my last trip to Anthony's, I had the meatballs with ricotta cheese, and the meatballs were massive. But they were doused in this delectable marinara sauce and the ricotta cheese was smooth and just worked really well when mixed with the sauce and the meatballs. Prices are pretty fair and standard for a pizza place. Service has always been pretty friendly, but sometimes the plates have sat on the table for far too long. I would definitely come back here.

So far this is my worst of Anthony’s location mainly due to long and messed up service (twice messed up order). I didn’t expect my favorite pizza to be not well done with not even crust, some parts were very thick. Ordered lemonades with no ice - came with ice. Were replaced. Ordered meatballs with pasta for the smallest kid. Came the last dish with no pasta. Good thing was replaced with no questions and didn’t put on check. It took 1.45 min for lunch with all waiting. May be because it was weekend. But the restaurant was not even half full. Meatballs were good as always at other locations according to my kids. I was disappointed in pizza - square margarita and cheese. Crust was not evenly thin, not well done in square margarita. Cheese pizza was better. Salads were as always good and same standard. The place itself is nice, big, indoors and outdoors seating connected. Well maintained. Clean.

Sadly this may have been our last trip to this wonderful and convenient establishment. We have frequented this store for the last 5 years since we moved a block away and up until about 6 months or so ago, everything was amazing! The cauliflower pizza and the wings and especially the arugula!! So fresh and big! We typically take out and though the pizza prices seemed high for just the mozzarella, basil, tomato, we opted to pay because everything else was great!! The last few orders we picked up were just not what we considered 5 star, especially for the price of pizza in the area. Since I liked the salad and the arugula hasn't been as big and fresh, we will most likely visit less or not at all. My last pick up order, the girl was so stressed on the phone and even more upset when I came to pick up as she was all alone to wait tables, tend bar and take phone orders. Meanwhile, the guys cooking and preparing food were walking around laughing and having a fun time. FYI, it was around 4pm in the middle of the week. Seems as though the management or something has changed lately and not for the better unfortunately. Oh well, it happens and fortunately we live in a great location with many establishments within a few minutes. Good luck and we hope to still visit...
