Hair of the Dog is a pretty cool sports bar that verges on being a billiards hall, with 6 fairly well-maintained pool tables and above average pool sticks available. I can’t comment on the food as I haven’t tried it, but the drinks are solid, and they have a good selection of beers and liquors.
The staff are friendly, it’s an easygoing atmosphere—although bordering on divey vs. elevated—and you can play pool, darts, or pinball. They also have both front and back patios for smoking, and have a cigarette vending machine. Overall a pretty good spot on Palm Canyon to hang out with friends.
Update: The food here is pretty mid and not the best. There are far better selections literally just next door at Wrap Houz and the wings at Palm Canyon Roadhouse a far better. In a pinch, it could work, but the star of the show here is definitely the pool tables and the reasonably priced, reasonably extensive spirits and...
Read moreWent with a group from out of town last evening and had a reasonably nice time, standard expectations for the bar team were met... So I don't know what happened to warrant it but about 5 minutes after last call, security/bouncer/etc began yelling at us to leave, high pitched whistles, etc- essentially herding us like cattle for the door- while half of us are trying to finish the drinks we were just sold and handed. I certainly understand wanting to close on time but it was a really terrible way to be treated after spending quite a bit of money and time there... I would have appreciated a more respectful approach, personally. Wish them well, but will not...
Read moreBeen coming here off & on for years. More often than not the service is bad (served one drink in a 45 minute period, had two other patrons served before me while I waited and they walked in after). Mainly filled with racist boomers making horrible comments about natives, blacks, and the LGBTQ communities. One of the bouncers/doormen is also racist (IMO). Saw him yell at a group of hispanics when they played Mexican music and were having a good time, but does nothing when alternative music is played. I’ve never tried the food, so cannot comment on that. I never post reviews, but had to this time. Taking my business elsewhere and will...
