Johnny Costa's. What a great name for a restaurant. Sounds like the name of a main character in a mid-20th century Italian mobster movie, and that's exactly what the vibe in here was. Classic Italian Music, white table cloths, candlelit tables, etc. I walked in here post heat stroke due to the 105 degree Palm Springs heat and 1 too many vodka lemonades by the pool, so I was in DESPERATE need of some ice water like Spongebob in Sandy's crib. The server refilled my water so quick, and ended up just putting the pitcher by us. CLUTCH. I got the Veal Parmigiana ($39) that came with a side of the "pasta of the day," which just turned out to be spaghetti and red sauce. I suspect the "pasta of the day" is always spaghetti and red sauce, which I think is kind of a cop out since there are no substitutions. Just say it comes with "spaghetti" rather than "pasta of the day." I don't know, maybe I’m trippin. After I settled down from pasta-of-the-day-gate, I dug into this veal parm. It was phenomenal. Sensational. It had a crispy exterior and a tender interior with a healthy portion of cheese and marinara sauce on top. Smackin. I felt like Johnny Costa himself eating this. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

This place had a very nice modern decor and the food was delicious! The crowd was fodder for stories. It was a scene man. We laughed quite a bit, delighted by all that was going on around us. Some of the locals are wacky and wonderful. Our server Wes was lovely. He has a great palette and recommended a beautiful Chianti. We had the veal picatta which was classic and perfectly prepared and seasoned. I had the eggplant parmasan, which was lovely. The homemade sauce was very layered in flavors and yummy. We knew when we were asked if we'd like anchovies with our Caesar salad that this was going to be the real deal. šŸ˜‹ And it was appropriately served on a chilled plate. We had a difficult time finding decent restaurants in this town, surprisingly. Lots of diner-type foods being passed off as fine dining with either bland prep or way too much going on. But Johnny Costa's hit all the right marks. Would love to come back and try more of the menu. Next trip!

Once you have eaten at Johnny Costa's, you'll know truly what Italian food tastes like. The calamari fritti is perfect. Nothing is chewy. It's full of taste. Served with marinara or cocktail sauce, it's amazing. I prefer the marinara sauce. Eventbrite something as simple as a salad tastes amazing. Get the vinegarette sauce. There really is nothing elsewhere you should ever put on a salad. The bread and the pizza bread taste just like Grandma used to make. Perfect for a delicious dish of cioppinno. As a San Francisco native, I love this Italian-American dish that originated in my home town. From the moment it hits your mouth, you will feel as if there's nothing else compares to it. Last but not least, let's talk about the service. I am never in want of water, bread, or anything else. All the servers are friendly, attentive, and professional. They know how to give top class service.

I want to state for the record that I have never ever reviewed an establishment before in my life. No matter the experience. Good or bad. And I have been to countless establishments. Johnny Costa’s is easily the best restaurant I have ever been to in my life.

The atmosphere: Absolutely gorgeous. I loved the feeling it captured. Dimly lit and romantic, Costa’s atmosphere is truly one of a kind and will make you feel like you are meant to be there. We sat in the Sinatra room which is only open if they are busy enough. I would totally recommend requesting it if possible. While plenty ambient noise from the other customers offered great comfort, it felt exclusive being in that room. Absolutely amazing.

The food: First off, great first impression. We started with appetizers consisting of escargot, mozzarella marinara, and prosciutto with melon (cantaloupe and kiwi). The mozzarella and the prosciutto were absolutely amazing. However, the escargot shines above all of them. I have never liked escargot in any place since I have been about four years old (I’m 23 now). Usually the texture gets to me easily. Costa’s way of doing them made me absolutely fall in love with them. They were delicate and light. Usually I’ve had escargot that is tough to chew. Not the case here. They melt in your mouth. I ordered Seafood Portofino. Lobster, prawns, and scallops in a pink sauce with fettuccine. If this is your first time here, and you are a fan of seafood, ORDER THIS DISH. the pink sauce is blended perfectly. It’s very delicate. Not too heavy on the cream and not too sweet. The perfect taste. My family ordered the gnocchi and the lobster ravioli which were so amazingly flavorful. For dessert we had a slice of cheesecake, lemon sorbet, and limoncello. Overall, I have never had such an experience quite like this. Just go. Get the food. You WILL NOT be disappointed in the slightest.

The service: The server that we had at our table, Daniel, was very accommodating. I loved the fact that he wasn’t too serious but wasn’t unprofessional. He knew how to balance the seriousness and the humor. We laughed and talked with him about the food. Very easy to converse with. 5/5 this was the best service I have ever experienced.

Overall, Johnny Costa’s is a very special establishment. You could feel it in your soul. To anyone who has never been to Palm Springs before (this was my first time here myself), make this establishment the first place you go to on your trip. I will definitely be back and I will talk the world of them to anyone who wants to go to Palm Springs for a vacation. Absolutely fabulous, Johnny Costa’s, you deserve all...

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences that I have ever had. first off they. We're not very accommodating to our request. And when it came time to pay my bill. I gave them cash and my card when I got the receipt back. They charged the whole amount to my card and the waitress took my cash. As a tip, I went to complain to the waitress and she said. Well, you didn't specify what the cash was for so let me get my manager. the manager was very rude from the gecko and then yelled at me and kept talking Uber me. I tried to explain to him the situation and at the end of the conversation. He told me well. Just don't come back to my restaurant. One of the guests that was eating dinner with me had to end up returning her meal because it upset her stomach and the manager was very rude about it. And just kept asking what was wrong with it. We told him it was too greasy. when she received her bill. They did remove the entree from her total but charged her $12 for a salad. And when I asked him about that he said. Well, we tried to accommodate her if she's not happy with it. I said no. He said well too bad. I will never ever go back to this establishment again. Nor will any of the people in my party. plus 3295 for chicken Alfredo...

I brought my wife here for our first anniversary and was shocked by how badly we were treated. Because we came only for dessert—the lava cake—the owner and waiters decided we ā€œweren’t spending enough.ā€ They kicked us out of the booth I’d reserved days earlier and stuck us at a tiny table right next to the front door, where people crowded around us while they waited. It was miserable and humiliating.

The lava cake was the whole reason we chose this place. My wife LOVES it; it’s her absolute favorite dessert, and your website flaunts it like a promise. But when we tried to order it, the staff rolled their eyes and acted like we were wasting their time. Watching her excitement turn to disappointment ruined the night.

Meanwhile, the servers hovered with annoyed faces, pressuring us every few minutes to buy more—like we were in a pushy car dealership, not a restaurant meant for celebrating love.

This was, without exaggeration, the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. You turned what should have been a joyful memory into a painful one. And believe me, I’m going to tell EVERYONE—friends, family, coworkers, social-media followers, anyone who asks for a recommendation—to stay far, far away...
