First time in my life I didn't leave a tip. We arrived on a weekday, before work at 7 a.m. for breakfast. We entered and there was no one to seat us. After waiting a minute or two, searching the restaurant for an employee, we seated ourselves. We obviously should have grabbed our own menus because by the time we flagged someone down, asked for menus and received them, 8 minutes had passed.
When the server, who was the most unpleasant server I've experienced, brought our menus, she quickly departed without taking our drink order. Made me think of the adage, "Who do you have to screw around here to get a cup of coffee?!" She finally returned and took our drink order and was about to make a speedy departure, when we indicated, "We're ready to order!" She made an expression of exasperation and took our order. We finished our coffee and tried to get her attention to request a refill. Once again, she approached the table with an attitude of disgust.
The entire time, we gave her the benefit of the doubt and were very pleasant despite her attitude. After 15 more minutes, our food arrived. We had to eat quickly because the experience had become lengthy and more unpleasant with each passing moment. We refrained from flagging her down to request another coffee refill and the check. We finished our meal and approached the cash register, where 3 other groups of patrons were waiting to pay.
Unfortunately, the same server came to the register. She didn't make eye contact or ask us how our meal was. She just passed the check to us and held out her hand. At that point, a tip wasn't an option. The food was typical diner food. The prices were good. The service was horrendous and the time it took to have a quick breakfast makes it an impossibility for...
Read moreI am a little conflicted with this review because I love trying to support local diners but this place.. really is not doing too well. I came here to treat my aunt to lunch last saturday, and the first thing we both noticed when we walked in the front doors was it smelled very...icky bathroom like. Definitely not appetizing. We were sat at a booth looking out the windows. The floors were really dirty with food particles and straw wrappers, it was not busy. Only 2 other people were eating. I ordered an apple juice and my aunt got a sprite, both tasted watered down and sprite had no fizz. I ordered the crescent ham and egg sandwich, which was in fact very soft and tasty but serving fries with a breakfast type sandwich was a turn off and went to waste. My aunt got a cheesesteak, the bread was really hard and way too much garlic, especially for a cheesesteak. Our waitress was not the most attentive either. The interior is very worn out looking, and the menu honestly is such a mess with it's layout and needs some fine tuning. It looks like mostly elderly folks eat here (nothing wrong with that) but if you want to draw the modern crowd there needs to be some work done and better staff that cleans and pays attention to...
Read moreFirst let me say that we have patronized this establishment for many years and have been loyal, mostly satisfied customers. This visit, however was a huge disappointment! We arrived shortly before 11am on Memorial Day looking forward to a relaxing, quality breakfast. The place was busy but no wait for a table. After ordering our meal of eggs and hash browns etc. we had a bit of a wait until our food came out, but understanding the busy conditions, not a problem. My omelet was very good although a little overcooked, but the hash browns were neither brown nor hashed. Basically full size slices of undercooked potato with a smattering of browned bits. Not acceptable and inedible. The waitress said they were very busy and the chef didn't have time to process them further. My wife's were in the same state. Further we were charged a premium because it was after 11am!! At the register the owner was not interested to hear our complaint, and was dismissive and saying "no one ever complains about his hash browns, no one" so, his attitude and lack of concern, to me says he doesn't need us and cares not because he has plenty of other...
