Update after reply from the establishment They asked me to text in the number they mentioned to "make it up to me". I did reach out, but received no response. Probably it was an empty gesture after all to appear responsible to those who read my review. Review still stands and I feel vindicated of the suspected unprofessional conduct. Cannot comment on the quality of food because I left without ordering because of a bad experience which, as a Local guide, I feel I should share here so that folks are aware of it.
I walked in to the store, asked for a menu and ordered the smallest achari paneer pizza which was priced at 17.99. The girl who took my order rang up the order and handed me the tablet which showed the "Add tip" page. The pre tip amount showed up as something like 22.91 which was higher than what I was expecting for a 17.99 pizza. So I asked her to show me the detailed bill with taxes. She did not appear too amused by my request. When she showed the price breakdown, the pizza was priced at 20.99 instead of 17.99. When I asked why there was a 3$ difference, she kept telling me that it was the price and there was no confusion. When I pointed out that the price in the menu was different, she said the menu prices are outdated and this is the new price. At this point she was not even ready to acknowledge or apologize that she should have pointed it out before I placed the order. It was more of "Take it or leave, I don't care".
It is not about 3$, but the blatant cheating and unethical business practice which ticked me off.
It was not as if I looked at a menu online in Google which had outdated prices. I was simply expecting them to honor the prices mentioned in the menu they handed me instead. I noticed it only because I ordered a single item. If I had ordered more, it might not have been too obvious as you are going to be presented with the "add tip" screen and not the breakdown of the actual bill.
I request everyone to take a good look at the detailed bill at this establishment before paying.
Needless to say, I left without...
Read moreI recently visited Curry Pizza House, and I’m disappointed to say that the experience was far below expectations, particularly regarding the hygiene standards of the staff.
From the moment I stepped in, I noticed that some of the workers did not seem to prioritize cleanliness, and this set the tone for a very unpleasant dining experience. One of the servers had visibly dirty fingernails and kept touching their face and hair while handling food and utensils. Another staff member, who was responsible for preparing drinks, was repeatedly seen wiping their hands on their clothes instead of washing them. It’s unsettling to think that this lack of basic hygiene is acceptable in a place where food safety should be a top priority.
Even more concerning was the fact that I saw a worker drop a piece of cutlery on the floor, pick it up, and then place it back on a dining table without any attempt to sanitize it. This complete disregard for cleanliness was shocking and made me question the standards upheld by the entire establishment.
Adding to the frustration, I witnessed the manager, Aman, doing managerial work at a table right in the middle of the dining area, where all the customers could see him. To my disbelief, he was drinking on the job and appeared very unprofessional. Watching a manager behave this way not only made the restaurant atmosphere feel unprofessional but also gave the impression that staff behavior and standards are not taken seriously at all.
The overall atmosphere, despite the decor, felt unclean. Watching staff members take shortcuts with their hygiene habits ruined my appetite and made me very uncomfortable. Hygiene in food service should never be compromised, and Curry Pizza House seriously needs to address this issue before it poses a health risk to customers.
I hope management takes immediate steps to improve worker hygiene and implement stricter protocols. Until then, I cannot recommend dining here, as the experience left me genuinely worried about the safety of the food and drinks. Cleanliness should be the foundation of any restaurant, and unfortunately, Curry Pizza House did not meet this...
Read moreNew to Palo Alto and the idea of Indian influenced pizza was intriguing.
Curry house pizza was not what I expected. Sunday PM and when walking in it looked and sounded like a rowdy sports bar even though there was only another group of about 10 occupying two tables.
Between the narrow venue, hard walls, one wall of multiple TVs showing NFL, shouting customers, and background music it was impossible to have a conversation.
Sat down and waitperson was immediately at our table before we had time to peruse the menu. It felt very rushed.
Pizza was OK but nothing out of the ordinary. I was expecting some interesting Indian flavors but pretty bland Curry Chicken Masala that I spiced up with the crushed red pepper at the table. That pepper on the table should have been my clue. I have never been in an Indian restaurant where additional hot spices were at the table. When ordering I asked for the pizza to be extra spicy and the waitperson said that Jalapenos could be added if I wanted.???? Any pizza place I have ever been can add Jalapenos!
I asked my partner about the whole scene and was told that quick service and loud atmosphere was part of running a restaurant in this era to ensure rapid turnover of the tables. Maybe that is the case or not I just know that it works on me. About that ensuring return business may be...
