Worst restaurant I have ever been to. My whole experience was awful from beginning to the end. First started off with sitting down. We were a party of 8. When we were called up the hostess mentioned they couldn’t accommodate us for a table for all of us to sit down and they could give us 2 separate tables and I said it’s fine. So we walk towards the tables and the hostess tells us which are our tables and we sat down. Few seconds later she whispers to the server and they’re whispering to each other and our server decides to accommodate us by putting the 2 tables together which I thought was very nice of her. She takes our drink orders and says she’ll be back. She comes back gives us our drinks and leaves. The “Sierra Mist” literally tasted like carbonated water, I don’t know what it was but it was definitely not “Sierra Mist”. So now we’re patiently waiting for our server to come back which literally took her at least 15 minutes to get back and only because I had to get her attention. She says “okay I’ll ask them to check on it do you want something else?” To which I say yea lemonade will be good. She leaves and comes back and we finally order. Well at least 40 minutes has passed and still no server to be seen and never came back to at least update us on how much longer it was going to be. My table was already frustrated and annoyed because it was one thing after another. We finally get our food and one person at our table didn’t get their salad. Server didn’t even come check up, the food runner had given us our food but there was no server to be found. She never came until our party was halfway done eating. I mentioned to her that we didn’t get a salad and I asked her how long it was going to be to wait for it she says not long. Well we got the salad and honestly I don’t understand how or why it would take so long just for a SALAD!!! We finally ask for the check and she automatically added 18%!! Plus there was a tourist fee and a separate tax which she couldn’t even explain what it was. She said there was a tax applied to “all checks but she split it” no where we saw that being split. At this point we were just trying to pay to leave this place because we were so disappointed and frustrated with the experience. I had never in my life been treated nor experienced a situation like this ever. I understand it was busy but checking in on your customers especially in the food industry is quite an important task. If our server would’ve been a lot more friendlier, attentive and nice our experience may have been different. Food was a 4 out of 10. The grouper filet tasted like frozen filet you get from the grocery store nothing fresh about it. Other food we ordered was decent nothing interesting about it. Read moreWe have come to Panama City for Christmas the past few years, and eat at Harpon Harry’s every year, as it is one of very few restaurants that are open.
Last year it was excellent, and the only complaint was getting a reservation as it took 4-6 phone calls as no one would call me back to confirm, I ended up with 4 reservations last year.
This year I called got switched to a voicemail and left details, similar to last year but after calling twice and gettin voicemail and leaving a message, I assumed i had a reservation, just for reference I called on December 8th, as soon as I saw they had announced the Christmas buffet.
When I arrived I had no reservation, while they were able to seat us outside, the fact the hostess assured me that they had no way to transfer calls, basically calling me a liar, and that even then my second call that went right to voicemail was never returned, she assured me they returned call and asked about a deposit, that was new on me as they did not require that last year, even if they did I understand the reasoning.
However, as a business owner never tell a customer they are lying I double checked my number, it was to the Panama City location, you have messaging on both the website and Facebook page for the Panama City Beach location, which you said you did not, and finally, I called from my business which records all incoming and outgoing calls, and they picked up the phone, when I told them why I was calling I was put on hold and then a voicemail.
If this was my first time I would assumed I screwed up, and been glad you could seat me at all. However, after the debacle last year of multiple callas to finally get a reservation confirmed then when I show up to have multiples told me all I need to know.
As a business owner, the buck stops with, me I accept all issues and would have apologized for overlooking the reservation, maybe next year hire a service to field the calls and schedule them so it is not overwhelming.
While it is a buffet and I am not expecting outstanding food for the amount you have to cook, most seemed to be right out of store containers. The meal is still worth the price due to shrimp, fish, and crab legs.
The help is great they work their hardest with the quick turn over, and ensuring everyone gets fresh plats and drinks in the hour.

So polite and so quick to make sure you are good on everything, even if he is SLAMMED. He was our server the first 2 times and we love him!! The cons: We came here tonight October 6th for dinner as a group of 14. The “manager” if you can call him that, blamed everyone else for the extremely poor service he gave us. When I put our name in to get on the list I told them we had a party of 12 and 2 high chairs. They called for us as a party of 4. When I corrected them, they were “well that’s an inconvenience but it’ll be a little longer.” After a few more minutes we get sat down at 2 separate tables, one for 10 and the other for 4, yet there was a table big enough open for all of us that we passed when we sat down. We told them when we put our names down we needed 2 high chairs, which took over an hour for them to bring us, after we asked 2 more times. The “manager” took a good 20-30 minutes just to get our drink order and another 20 minutes to get them to us. 5 of us ordered sweet tea and he gave them unsweetened tea that sugar couldn’t even help fix. We placed our order for appetizers as we placed our drink order. We sat and waited for well over 1.5 hours for the “manager” to even acknowledge that we didn’t get our appetizers. When we asked him about it he laughed and stumbled for words. Pretty sure he didn’t even put our order in because when we got tired of waiting and watching others who got sat after us get their meals, eat and leave, & we got up to walk out for the poor service we received tonight, the “manager” got defensive, yelled to the cooks not to make the meals & they looked puzzled like “what meals.” We got up and left as we had 5 hungry screaming kids and an elderly diabetic with us who could feel her blood sugar dropping. When asked to talk to the manager we were pointed back to our server and when we asked him he said he called his Manager and she was on the way, yet after another 30 minutes she was nowhere to be found.
