I’m heartbroken and still in disbelief. šŸ’” After years of staying at a resort we loved, we were discriminated against and humiliated—simply because I have a disability and a medical service dog. Even though we called three times in advance to confirm that my service dog, Loki, was noted on our reservation and approved, we were still singled out and denied access. We were yelled at, scolded in public, and my husband was physically yanked off an elevator in front of a crowd of strangers. I was in tears, asking, ā€œSo you’re refusing us because of my disability?ā€ Their only answer: ā€œWe can give you a full refund.ā€ That moment sent me into a panic attack. I broke down, blaming myself. My family—after a long drive—was now left heartbroken and humiliated. And all because I need a service dog to help me manage my medical condition. I even had to call my trainer Rachel in desperation, who heard everything through the phone—how they spoke to us in a rude, condescending tone. She told us to call the police, and we did. When the officers arrived, I was sitting in the grass, holding Loki, unable to even stand. They asked the two LEGAL questions: 1. Is this a service dog? 2. What task does he perform? I provided my paperwork willingly—just to prove how real and trained my service dog is, though they’re not legally allowed to ask for that. After seeing everything, the officers became visibly angry. The officer said, ā€œLet’s bring the hammer down.ā€ He reminded the staff that what they were doing was a clear violation of Florida Statute 413.08, which protects the rights of people with disabilities who use service animals. He told them I have full legal access and that if they continued to deny me, I had every right to sue. The woman who had been so aggressive with us left before the officers returned. Only security guards remained to receive the message: we are not to be harassed, denied, or discriminated against anymore. This never should have happened. It was cruel, illegal, and completely avoidable—especially after we did everything right. My family was hurt, embarrassed, and devastated. All we wanted was a peaceful start to our beach trip, and instead we were treated like criminals—for nothing more than me needing a medical accommodation. Would you deny someone in a wheelchair a place to stay? No. So why was it okay to do this to me? To anyone reading this: disability discrimination is real. And it needs to stop.

Floors could have been cleaner for what we paid. But over all it was nice and location was perfect.

We booked a vacation spot here because the room looked great and the location was amazing. However we came into a condo that had not been cleaned. Stains all over the furniture. Sticky countertops and dirty marks all over the walls? We looked past it and continued on our vacation. Monday night we went to do dolphin tours when towards the end of the boat ride we got a call at around 8 pm. The call went to voicemail. When we looked at the voicemail it was the property manager accusing our room of throwing a rock filled owl off the balcony. That we should expect a knock on our door and that they would evict us for it. At this point we had been gone for 6 hour and we didn't have a decorative owl in our condo to begin with. When the boat docked we immediately went back to the room and canceled dinner plans. When we got there no one from the property was there to discuss the situation. We looked around and knocked on facilities doors looking for someone to talk with but still found no one. We went to try our room and were still able to get in. We decided to go to bed and the next morning went down to talk to management. One lady said they couldn't tell what room it came from. Another said we shouldn't worry and go about our day. We were to scared to leave the room because we werent sure if they wanted us out so they could throw us out. The property manager didn't get in till 10-11. When he did get in we talked to him about how we weren't on property and we never even had a decorative owl. We also stated how the accusation of us willing throwing a several pound object off the 16th floor was practically a accusation of attempted murder. An object of that weight from the 16th floor could've killed someone had they been struck. The property manager went on a rant about how hes seen worse. After we left and went back to the room. We have not heard back since. This experience ruined the vacation. It caused a lot of stress and tension because we didn't know if or when we would be kicked out of the condo during our stay. This was completely unprofessional and the situation was handled poorly on the properties side. Vacasa has had over 1700 reports to the better business bureau in the last year. Do not go. Its not worth the hassle.

Where do I start? The management is with Vacasa and as poorly managed as any property I have ever visited. Upon check in I was told by the desk clerk the washing machine was broken. Since it was 7 of us that was a major set back but I had plenty of clothes so I could manage but other family members didn't pack for set backs so it was a problem for them. I was there at about 3:00 pm so she the clerk said the condo was cleaned but I would receive an email when the final inspection was over. I never received such email or text. I ask while I waited If I could walk out to the beach I had my service animal with me that was approved by the Maxet office at least 3 weeks prior to my arrival but as I walked passed the office to go to the gate to the beach the onsite manager (Vacasa) stating that my dog was not approved and he would not be allowed on that property. I told the man the Maxet office did approve my dog. He told me he had spoke to the Maxet office and they had not approve my service animal. First of all it is against the law for my dog to be denied to be with me due to my medical condition. Second I followed the rules of Maxet had my doctor answer their questions and overnighted this form back to their office 3 to 4 weeks prior to my arrival. I have over 10,000. dollars in training for this animal and in the purchase price of the animal. He is certified by and through ADA. He is not an emotional stress dog .He is a working animal for my medical condition. I got very up set that I drove 600 miles to be denied an animal that was approved 3 weeks prior. After a big argument from the Vacasa manager I was left with a decision to either leave the property or be removed by eviction and a police to be called.I am not worried about the police because I had done nothing to break the law but my family didn't want to try find another condo with a service animal in a short notice. In a about 5 minutes the manager was calling my phone again saying I am sorry your dog is approved after chewing me out threating to call the police this man called me to tell me that the Maxet office didn't have it right the first time but 5 or 10 minutes later they had it right. I said you should of had your heads together before you called me mister. This started another argument this manager had about as much business being a manager as I would of becoming an astronaut. I know nothing about becoming an astronaut. I then went to my room after this man intentionally try to run my vacation which he done an outstanding job. I tried to get this man to speak with me directly instead he talked his crap hiding in an office. In Tennessee we call this type person a coward with no backbone. I tried to make the best of this vacation but we had more issues I pay for 1407 because it was advertised as having 2 king beds 2 bunk beds and a sofa sleeper. There was no sofa in this condo I went down to the front desk to ask where my mother in law was to sleep on, the manager was gone the desk clerk was as nice as she could be, she even said the manager is not a people person. My mother in law had to sleep on a recliner and the next day some lady brought a blow up mattress . the condo is not as advertised saying it will sleep 8 people there were 7 of us and the first night it didn't sleep 7 people. There was not even a oven in this unit we was going to bake a spiral ham but no oven. The manager said he was going to refund me some money that also was a lie. Never again Vacasa...
