If I could rate workers this would be a one star and 5 star review. After a long day of travel and family pictures we decided to try to find a restaurant without a 1+ hour wait because we were exhausted. Everyone usually likes tazikis back home so we thought this would be a great place to grab a late dinner. As we go to order our food we are informed they are all out of lamb. My husband is a little disappointed but we change our order and grab our drink cups. As we get to the drinks we are informed they are actually out of rice as well. We get our sides switched out and I go to get sweet tea (Georgia girl) and itâs empty. At this point Iâm getting disappointed so I go to the register and ask if they have anymore tea. The young man that took our orders quickly said he would make some. As itâs brewing 2 other customers get tea from it. The young man comes back to put the sugar in and gets scolded by another co worker for making tea. He apologized and said he just made half. I tell him that 2 other people had already gotten tea and it really turned my experience around. I told him he did the right thing and he said, âwell thatâs the ownerâs son.â The ownerâs son needs some lessons on customer service. The other workerâs small act of kindness meant a lot. There was still an hour and a half until close. Tea and sugar do not cost a lot but losing repeat customers and...
Read moreMy mother-in-law and I went to put in a to-go order tonight. The âclosedâ sign was up, and when I pushed the door open, I asked if they were open since the sign said âclosed.â They said they were open, and thatâs probably why they were slow today. When we went to put in the order, I was going to order the lamb gyros for my husband and I, and my MIL was ordering a salad with the pita and hummus. They were out of lamb. And the feta cheese is an up charge, which is ridiculous since itâs a staple in Greek dishes. So we settled for the beef gyros, and my husband wanted only lettuce, feta, and the Tatziki sauce, and the guy passive aggressively said I was complicating the order. Itâs basically a regular gyro without tomatoes and onions. Thatâs it. Then the manager pushed him out of the way to finish taking our order, and this guy was incredibly RUDE. He barely made eye contact and was acting like we were wasting his time, and he scoffed at us when I asked if I get a side with my gyro. Needless to say, we didnât leave a tip. Iâve never felt so uncomfortable in this type of situation. And the fact that it was the manager who was a jerk, made it even worse. The food was made right, but it did not taste fresh at all. The tomatoes were soggy, the salad had 2 olives, and was wilty. Iâm hoping the Baklava will redeem some points for them. We will absolutely not be...
Read moreSuch a decent meal. First I have to take time to properly appreciate the sauces.
-Tzatziki had a sharp fresh tang to it, not dull like the store bought. There was plenty of shredded cucumber and a wonderful fresh garlic note. Great job.
Caesar dressing was outstanding - I mean it. It was slightly coarse from the parmigiana, and after careful tasting I was able to distinguish pureed anchovy and mustard, which is unbelievable unless going to a fine dining place.
Clearly putting quality ingredients in.
My grilled vegetables were nicely done, not soggy but crisp and mellow. Onion tasted fresh, which is sometimes difficult for restaurants if they chop ingredients well in advance. Onion gets easily oxidized and can taste like garbage juice.
Appreciate the small crumble in feta and that it felt like chunked off a block. It sat on vegetables well and didn't roll off like the pre-crumbled stuff does. Olives looked like kalamata, thank you for that.
Now, the meat was chopped rather fine which was probably a good thing considering it was pretty tough. I also didn't really taste the lamb. Still, a fair dish.
I was looking forward to ordering some shawarma meat but didn't see it on the menu. If course to do it well that would mean installing the whole rotating spit for the meat.
All in all I'm very happy and...
