Although I don't think it's my favorite show in Vegas, Le Reve is an interesting show that is pretty flashy with a lot of different tech being used along with the dedication of its performers.
Let's first talk what I loved. I loved the decor and the circular stadium. It's always a neat concept that I love to see as it allows for better viewing angles and some neat tricks. This show loves to utilize all parts of the show floor from the ceiling to underwater figures. It's pretty mesmerizing and the show is mostly pretty good about keeping you guessing on what's coming next with new concepts all throughout. Much like O, I love the intro the most and some of the simple tricks that it uses to keep you engaged.
I also loved the performers. The actress who plays the main character is terrific throughout both as an emotional centerpoint and as a performer. There are also some standouts such as the 'wise man' that is so consistent in his actions. And of course, the performers are all excellent in their athleticism and bravery. They just do so much and there are so harrowing dives that are outstanding. Even my biggest criticism about O (the clowns) gets better addressed here with the comedic interludes that are a bit funnier and a little bit more clever (although not always quite connecting).
What didn't I like as much? I thought the story was a bit of a letdown personally. What started out as some interesting visual symbolism and imagery turned into a fairly simplistic story. I thought there was so much interesting imagery and set pieces in the first quarter of the show that devolves a bit more into more stereotypical themes and eventually a 'good vs. evil' trope that wasn't really that necessary. For a show about 'love' and 'dreams', I would have really loved the show to have explored some of the more ambiguous and gray areas of these concepts that really are more complicated than meagerly saying something is good or bad.
There were also some weirder items of the show that I felt were underutilized/a bit of a sore thumb. There are screens throughout the theater's outer ring that felt sorely lacking and a bit of a sore thumb (better to have nothing in my opinion). The dancers, as talented as they were, also just seemed a bit off in terms of the rest of the show. There was one section (which I'll dub the angry water fall dance moves) that I though the dancing was really cool and interesting, but the rest didn't have the same connection as I felt the rest of the show had.
Tickets were about a $110ish for the seats above the splash zone (Row H from any row was divine for us if you need some help in terms of seating). Even getting the tickets the day of wasn't too bad for us in the morning as most seats/rows were open. When we came in (admittedly on VDay weekend), I would say about half the stadium was filled up while the other side was a bit more sparse. There is a concessions stand before you go in as well. To find La Reve, look for XS or the transition point between Encore/Wynn.
All-in-all, I'm glad I watched the show and curious to see...

Now the really not so good...
Performance: I kind of wish this had just been a bad dream where I woke up and didn't spend money to see this. The show started out with such promise as we took our seats. There was a view of a bench on the water stage in the center of the room surrounded by fog. It was the moment the show started though my wife and I started to worry this was going to be a bad show...
The plot seemed to make sense, pretty women torn between two love options, the stereotypical Disney hunk and the Devilish "bad boy." But what unfolds over the entire show is nothing short of questionable. There is this convoluted tug-of-war, back and forth, between the two choices but there is no real flow. Everything just seems to happen.
Having seen Cirque du Soleil just the night before, and being extremely impressed, I was expecting so much more from the one show Wynn had to offer. The dances were super cheesy and the acrobatics were very simplistic.
The only time the entire show that anyone actually sounded excited was when a guy dropped a pretty sizable distance into the water below, I guess maybe 2-3 stories?
I really wanted to understand what was happening in this show and I asked a few of those sitting around us and none of them seemed to understand or like the show either. None of the feedback on exit was positive..
Can't understand the positive reviews for...
Read moreThe performer's are a very talented bunch. The venue is superb as is things like the sound and lights etc... The prolbem is the story. What there is of it. Not very interesting. I saw this show for a 2nd time on 1-11-20 when i went to the Wynn box office for a ticket for Robbie Williams. The show was going to start in 1 hour and the guy at the box office said the tix price was $120. Instead of $170. so i fiqured why not. The theatre was about half full for a 930 p.m Show on a sat. Nite The theatre is in the round so it does not matter what section you sit in. You will want to sit about half way back or higher. As a lot of the action drops from the ceiling.
I would say dont get your hopes up too high. At about $100 i guess most people would be ok with it. But dont go crazy on the cost of a tix.
The theatre is pretty small. It would be a great place to see a singer preform. I would imagine that would be impossible tho seeing how water and electricity dont mix too well.
The last time i saw the show was when i went to buy a tix for the extremely funny show SPAMALOT. And same thing only that time the people were actually walking in. They have revamped some of the show since then. The only difference i saw was a girl in yellow doing an incredible dance number. The highlight of the show for me.
One last thing. The quality of the seats are very nice. I weigh like 310lbs and had...
