As A Brooklyn Girl who would like to Call myself A Restaurateur. My Experience at this Location was Highly disappointing. My Husband and I decided to Visit this Location for a Pre anniversary Lunch. My Husband wanted to come To this specific Location because He heard Great things. We were also expecting the Service to be superb due to it being a Vegas, but it seems that Great Service we were Expecting wasn’t for US. So let me start by why the service all together was subpar. I’ll start with the greeting from the hostess , well there wasn’t really a greeting it was more like a weird glare. The Manager whom was standing there disingenuously smiled and told her to Seat us. We Happily walked behind her as we Were famished and decided We wanted to try the Burgers as we Heard they were great. The hostess walks us to a table away from Everyone and behind a wall and the bar , as If to Keep us out of site. This was quite alarming being there was plenty of available seating in the front of the Restaurant. I then asked A Waiter whom was walking from the Kitchen to get the Manager . He came he Moved Us didn’t seem as if he wanted to but knew that seating arrangement was very “50’ish You can eat but not where Everyone can See” So The gentlemen who retrieved the Manager turned out to be Our Waiter. He tried to be attentive to Us at first but I guess his attention was On the Other Patrons. We Ordered our Burgers my Husband with No cheese , I wanted Cheese . When the Burgers came his had cheese so that had to be Redone. They bought him back the same burger under the guise that it was new but they instead scrapped the cheese off. We had to call the Server back over because Our waiter as i mentioned did not come to check on us . So i began to cut my burger in half ate the first half. Coincidentally as The Server bought the Now new Burger to my husband as i Was getting ready to bite into the other half I noticed something white peeking out of the meat. I took my knife and moved it a little and noticed “ok this looks like a foreign object in my burger !! I said to the Server “hey what is this?” As moved it a little more with knife ; it was a piece of white plastic embedded in my BURGER!!! The Server immediately took it away and informed the manager. Keep in mind Our waiter still has not came and offered NO APOLOGY. The Manager came of course he was Apologetic , he offered to make me another one but I declined . How could i eat another Burger knowing they carelessly allow things to drop in their ground chuck meat. So Our waiter never removed empty plates never came and Said anything . When Our waiter finally did come, I mentioned the conversation I had with the Manager and decided on getting A steak. The Manager did give me half off of that . Btw that was appreciated being as i did have the issue with the Burger. The Steak was the New York Strip it was Mediocre. The Waiter never Removed our plates he left Us with plates on our table. Overall the service was Terrible. I have never experienced such a Experience. Especially from such A Superb Restaurant!!! It was just not welcoming I began to feel as if these things were Done on purpose. When we Were leaving i didn’t see the Manager but On the way Out, I did see the hostess who didn’t thank Us for coming but Instead gave that same glare . Just Weird . Their Hospitality is out the Window maybe it is reserved for Other patrons . I will save my Peter Luger cravings for BROOKLYN. Signed A...
Read moreThis review is solely based on the service we received at our Oct.22nd Wed 11:30am reservation (2 people). Server’s name is Obi (I could be wrong because I only got a peek of his name tag), a tall guy with short beard (maybe trimmed? I didn’t even get a clear look of him) on the side. I’m never nitpicky with wait staff. As long as they’re not rude I always give a good tip, even when sometimes I feel like they hate their jobs and don’t want to be there. But this server gave us an experience I won’t be able to forget. He remained ABSOLUTELY SILENT almost the entire meal. No “Hi my name’s xx I will be taking care of you today”(that’s why I never really caught his name), no “can I get you started on something to drink”, not even a cursory “are you guys ready to order”, no, nope, just, DEAD, SILENCE. He stood by me tapping his pen impatiently on his little pad waiting for me to utter the first word, and when I asked a question about the power lunch he gave me the shortest answer possible, not with the slightest intention to carry the conversation further. When I said we need a couple more minutes, he just WALKED AWAY, without saying ANYTHING. No “OK take your time”, no “OK I will be back”, nope, nothing. After we ordered he reluctantly brought us our food, of course in dead silence. One time he came by to put a small plate upside down on the table, which I later learnt is to prop up one side of the steak plate. But at the time I didn’t know, and he offered no explanation, almost slapped the plate on the table, making a sound so loud and unpleasant like your parent slapping your D- math test on the dinner table. He also disappeared for some time during our lunch, and we were being served by another server during his absence. After dessert he brought us our bill, again, said absolutely nothing, no “can I get you anything else”, no “take your time”. After I put the credit card down, he again, with this dreadful silence, took away my card even without a “thank you”. At the end after he brought back my card, seeing that I was looking for his name tag and possibly all of a sudden remembered tips are based on service quality, he finally, reluctantly, uttered his first word that’s not a reaction to something I said: thank you. I did wonder if this is his style, but apparently, he is acting all normal and exchanging friendly banter with the tables next to us and behind us. There is another table he was waiting on with all Asian guests. I am not accusing him of being a racist, but I WILL say that he’s cold and standoffish with the Asian guests too. The racial undertone in his attitude is palpable. At least to say that he’s treating all guests equally regardless of their appearance and race is a far-fetched statement. I didn’t make a scene; I gave a 18% tip, all because I was traveling with my mother. If it was just me I’d ask for the manager the moment he slapped that plate on my table. This was supposed to be a long overdue mother daughter trip after my own daughter was born, and this meal was supposed to be the culminating point of the trip, a celebration that my mom’s a grandmother now. Thank you, Peter Luger, for ruining not just a meal, but an important moment for us. I will be sure to tell my friends and families...
Read moreHaving eaten at the NY locations over 30+ times I have the following comments, including large corporate events with Brooklyn Union Gas.
The restaurant was beautiful and the service was amazing (our water Nigel was GREAT, as was the rest of the wait staff)
The front desk was a fluster of 4-5 employees all looking lost. I was 40 min early (res was 5pm) and told we would have to wait to exactly 5pm. Once inside, the restaurant was mostly empty, maybe it was a wait staff issue, because our table and many, many others were available (or is that your way of being chic).
Food:
Rolls were horrible and not even close to NY, the onion rolls were inedible as were the other breads (BAD) Teddy assured me they were better then NY.
I ordered tomato and onions with 3 strips of bacon chopped with the onions and tomato. I was clear the amount of bacon was not even close to three slices nor was the amount of tomato and onion I have seen 30+ times. I separate single slice was delivered to the table “complements of the chief” I think some realized almost no bacon was chopped and a slice was added last minute. The bacon was bad, hard and dry like it was precooked and just warmed, not equal to NY at all.
2 porterhouse steaks for 2: Steaks came out not even close to sizzling / smoking like have always experienced. Can almost 100% guarantee that the steak was not broiled on those plates, no signs of burnt juice or butter I have seen so many times and they were plain plates and not the matching plates. The steak was under cooked for med rare and not hot like I am used to. After the first two slices the rest of the steak was cooled off and not hot at all. The juice was only 100% only butter that appeared to be added after the fact. No steak flavor only butter flavor no juice. The meat was lacking the dry aged flavor I am used to. Steak in NY sizzles and spits with they deliver it right from the broiler with a smell you can’t replicate. In NY you can smell that every time another steak would come out to the tables around you. Has browns were not up to par as they were not baked in the dish and lacked the crust on the bottom I love. Deserts were just average, slag was good but no coins lol….
All in all the $600 dinner for 4 with 5 drinks was way over priced and nothing close to the NY restaurants. (my comment to the managers: Sad to say I won’t be recommending or comming back).
Hope things get better in a city where there are so many choices for steak. Funny part is Teddy told me the family just ate there and thought it was better than NY and that I would love the rolls, sending me extras.
PS: calls direct to the restaurant # are being forwarded to the general hotel operators that once answered the phone “peters” and the other time hell’s kitchen, they told me no direct line...
