I usually eat here when I visit Paris. This last visit was a huge disappointment and surely my last time eating here. My friend found hair in her plate underneath the half eaten salmon. We sent it back, the waiter never apologized. Instead, she asked if she wanted another. Of course we said no after being disgusted the first time. Even I didn't finish my own salmon because of this. When it was time to pay, the waitress asked my friend was hers on a separate ticket? We could NOT believe they were still going to charge her. My friend asked to speak to a manager and after 10 minutes, he never even showed up. Finally after sitting there and the rest of us already paid, We asked the waiter what was going on. She said oh he is not coming, he said we will NOT make you pay for it. This was odd, usually when you send a meal back in a restaurant, the manager immediately comes out to make sure everything is ok and to apologize. Before we got up to leave, a guy who said he was the manager came out. He spoke like he was not concerned and even said, we have 4 people in the kitchen, 2 have long hair with hair nets and the other 2 are bald. He was implying that we somehow implanted the hair in the dish. The same dish my friend was enjoying and wanted to finish so badly. On top of this, the...
Read moreClad in fancy white stone & fireplace of same, Magel's looked too upscale to me in the past. But when I walked in the door, I felt welcome. Comfortable, vinyl booth seating, sturdy, clean dining tables w/ wood chairs & indoor/outdoor carpet. Casual. Attentive, courteous, engaging, waitstaff. Interested in Google Maps. 👁 sat in the back room. Its East wall, full-height windows ↝ looking out onto the swimming pool of the adjacent Americas Best Value Inn. No WiFi. 👁 8 chicken fried steak, broccoli, baked potato, Diet Coke, & for dessert, Lava Fudge Cake. Chicken fried steak was reminiscent of KFC "Original," Tasty! Lava Fudge Cake was Choc-o-licious! Rich, fudge chocolate cake drizzled w/ chocolate syrup, surrounded by 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream. Ⓜ️ Upper end of moderate for 1 meal in Paris $19.⁸⁹ + tip. ✔ Great meal. Excellent service....
Read moreThe staff was excellent and very friendly. The building nicely decorated. The food, not quiet as good as I hoped and reminded me of why I rarely go there.
The cheese sticks were the cheap kind I've seen in low end places. I get better cheese sticks from the grocery store for a far better price. The chicken chipotle queso chip & dip was good.
I heard no complaints nor compliments from others in the group. As for mine, Magel's used to be locally famous for their chicken fried steak. I didn't care for it, couldn't even finish it. The gravy looked very watered down & unappetizing. Perhaps next time I'll try something else and like it better.
For two meals, one appetizer & one drink we spent $42 before tip.
