Let me start by saying-I typically LOVE Jersey Mikes. But the health inspector needs to come here. I was supposed to go to Carl’s Jr., but it was closed and my fiancé and I were starving (just drove 4 hours to our hotel). In my starvation-I decided it was better to eat this than nothing. Im just praying I don’t get food poisoning. I ordered a sub and asked for rosemary bread which I saw out in the bread stand. He said it was old and didn’t recommend I eat it. That should have been my queue to go. Then he said the only bread they had was wheat. Okay. Not my fav but I was starved. Then I noticed there were no tomatoes. No one said anything about it before we ordered, so I figured there was more in the back. Nope. Then the guy making my sub put all my meat on my fiancé’s Sub and picked it up and put it on mine. The girl helping, put a ton of mustard on my sub and tried slapping my bread against the table to shake it off, before grabbing an onion to wipe it all off. Insert facepalm emoji and eye rolls. Did I mention she also touched the register and my fiancés credit card before going to finish our subs and never changed her gloves?!!. I asked for Avocado spread since I didn’t get my bread of choice and no tomatoes. The guy actually said and I quote, “that’s actually been sitting out all day are you sure you want it.” My god!!! At this point is was starving, frustrated, bewildered and angry. If you are the manager and reading this, I was the second to the last to order tonight before closing. The lady after me was equally bewildered and not happy. Your staff is unhygienic, incompetent and your store is not clean. Go look at your camera footage from tonight if you don’t believe my experience. DO NOT COME TO THIS JERSEY...
Read moreArrived about 5 pm for a quick order as I had not had Jersey Mikes in a long time. The employees were making several orders and were rather engaged, so I waited for about 5 minutes before one employee asked me for my order. I ordered a Mikes chicken Philly in a bowl and was told it would take 10 minutes so I also waited. This is where the significant issues started. First one employee was cutting various meats on the slicer adding them to the waiting sandwiches. However, then sliced cheese on the same slicer, putting the cheese away, then slicing meat again. Clearly cross contamination. Then the employee, after fixing two sandwiches and wrapping them to go, goes outside without removing his plastic gloves, delivered the sandwiches to who I believe was his mother, then came back without changing plastic gloves. Another couple came in to order and this employee then indicated that they were out of lettuce to make sandwiches.. The couple leaves. This employee then goes and grabs two heads of lettuce wearing the same plastic gloves, and proceeds to cut the lettuce heads he brought back from the back. Again unsanitary because he is wearing same plastic gloves, using the slicer he cut meat and cheese, not cleaning the device and then proceed to cut lettuce. So after this, and having paid for my order, I took it but decided to throw it away after considering all of what I witnessed. I should have asked for a refund and complained I realized, no excuse there; I should have done that...
Read moreI like their sandwiches but, be warned of the service! If you are hungry for a little mini mid-aftennoon snack (sandwich) on white, you may be very disappointed. There is a policy that when they run out of the mini size in the bread of your choice that they bake earlier in the day, it may be game over. When I was informed that my only choice for a mini was the rosemary parm, I asked the staff if they could cut down a white or wheat- "No" and "No" was the reply. I left.
On my way home, about 4 miles away, I thought "this is wrong", I have had many minis :-) with no issues in the past. I'm in the sub club for crying out loud!
I called and talked to the lead person on duty and told her my story. She confirmed that when they run out of the pre-baked mini bread of your liking, that's it. She said cutting down a regular size bread was just too wasteful. I guess losing a customer is worth an inch of bread? To be fair, I was offered a free mini if I came back in and asked for her, but I declined on principle.
To the manager of the store in Paso. Did you make this policy? Or is this from Corporate? I think a better policy is 'the customer is always right'! Fast food is so expensive these days, right?! If you are training your staff to let a customer walk after a simple request then I will take my business elsewhere.
The end. (I do feel slightly better, but I am...
