Okay so one of the rare "Ray's 5 star reviews" moments
To preface, this place is the hidden gem of a lifetime that isn't so hidden. From the moment you walk in, you don't feel like you're in Oklahoma. Very rich atmosphere with the Italian theme, friendly and informative staff, decor is easy on the eyes and doesn't draw attention like some places.
Now for the food. I grew up in SoCal where seafood is the real deal, so I ordered Linguini with clams. There are few places I have ever found who can make clams right, let alone well. This place nailed it. 110% on the head, spot on, nailed it. The last time I had linguini done as perfectly as this was a small little cafe in upstate NY over a decade ago. That's not all though. The bread... Made fresh daily, and you can tell it is fresh. Rich and soft with the perfect crunch to it's crust.
I came in fully expecting to eat, be content, and go back later for more when I was hungry again. Yeah, the authenticity is too perfect. It is filling, very very filling. Not an olive garden "all you can eat pasta" filling where your body just feels let down by the quality, but a "this isn't overly processed full of preservatives" filling. You feel good after eating here. If I still lived in Oklahoma, this would be my once a week date night place. My hat is off to the staff here, from the initial interaction to the food itself, you all rock. You're what customer service used to be, and frankly you are leaps and bounds over what people consider acceptable now. Anytime I am in the area, I am making time to get some...
Read moreExcellent everything, you won’t be disappointed. It’s inside the Sunoco Truck Stop, however don’t let it fool you. It’s not a hole in the wall ! Surprised doesn’t even begin to tell you the love these guys put into the business. There’s two owners from what understand , one being the chef. The atmosphere is true classic dining (white table cloths cause the front of the house cares about cleanliness) I mean everything thought of . The food is classic menu but I mentioned the chef (partner) he is from Brooklyn and says he had long career in manhattan. You can take it to the bank. I drive truck , I almost want to pack up the kids and wife and bring em through. By far best eats I had in several years . I had spaghetti which sounds easy comfortable, have u ever seen spaghetti served with a spoon? Yeah Man U eat the sauce with a spoon or swap it up with bread . Not greasy just sauce. If I would’ve known that place was gonnna be like that I would’ve got lasagna. The people are friendly, and no u can’t dare say ur glass will ever be empty (classic Italian hospitality). Truckers will come and really enjoy . Thanks for the smile yesterday haven’t had something like...
Read moreWhen you’re on a road trip and officially over fast food, you start taking risks. Big ones. Like rolling up to a brand-new, no-review, truck-stop Italian restaurant in the middle of Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma, on a Sunday—because, of course, nothing else is open.
Enter Café Italia. It had exactly one poorly taken photo online, and that was it. No reviews, no hints, just vibes. And honestly? I was nervous. But the place looked freshly painted, and we figured, why not? Spoiler alert: We hit the jackpot.
First, let’s talk about the bread. They make it fresh daily, and I could have easily carb-loaded my way into a food coma with just that. But we had a mission—to test their bruschetta (our go-to Italian restaurant litmus test). It did not disappoint. Then came the mains: chicken Parmesan, the Spaghetti Works, chicken Alfredo, and two kids’ spaghetti with meatballs. Every. Single. Thing. Was. Tasty.
The restaurant itself was clean and cozy, the staff was beyond kind and attentive, and the prices were reasonable. And the biggest win? They’re open on Sundays. If you find yourself in Paul’s Valley and want a solid, non-fast-food meal, take the chance. You...
