We waited so long for our food it was ridiculous. The hostess was not greeting people properly, there was no one at the front for most of the time that we entered the restaurant... the bartender was just neglectful and they didn't even have a drink menu at the bar! I thought at first that there was some kind of Japanese custom for him not to speak to women the way that he was ignoring me when I addressed him very clearly. My daughter and I just wanted to preorder online and pick up our food from the front vestibule, tip well, and go home.
The time printed said 30, 40 minutes... we arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes after the maximum time that the three rolls we ordered were supposed to be done. Then another 30-40 just to get one drink at the bar even though NOT ONE OTHER PERSON was drinking the whole time I stood there... after a while I just wanted to see how long they would make me wait. The waitress just kept running back-and-forth saying "oh I'll get you a menu"... this happened 4-5 times. After taking my drink order she proceeded to get it wrong twice after I clarified what I wanted and pointed to it on the menu. What should've been a quick pick up since it was pre-ordered and given extra time turned into an hour and a half event not including my transit time. I am truly disappointed with the experience my daughter had... we were crowded by everyone except the staff- their waiting area needs improvement or they just need a...
Read moreWe have been coming for years. Our experiences here were exceptional for the first couple of years. A couple of years ago the experiences quit being as high a standard as we expected revolving solely around the food and particularly the presentation. As a result, we stopped coming in regularly. We stopped in a couple of times this last year just to check and see if things had improved. Reading all the great reviews seemed to indicate things had, so we went back on Dec 31 for a "lunch date" visit.
We were the first people in the door. We ordered some sashimi, and a couple of rolls. The sweet potato rolls were on point, so, so good. Wife had a volcano roll that she liked, I thought the salmon portion was a bit heady. I got some yellowtail that was really good. I also ordered some mackerel and a dragon roll. The mackerel was squishy and smelly, right at the point of not being desirable to serve. I was very disappointed that the chef let that go. The dragon roll was so wet and squishy it may as well have been a casserole entree. It was a substandard soggy, formless, and drippy presentation that never should have hit the table.
Since we were on a date, I didn't want to be that guy and send what essentially was my whole lunch back. I grinned and bore it just not to make things unpleasant. It was the worst experience I have ever had in a sushi restaurant and particularly for a place of this perceived quality.
We will not...
Read moreI don’t know where to start. We weren’t treated very well at all, and honestly I don’t know why. We came in and just wanted to eat Hibachi, we were seated first at a hibachi table, most expected to fill with other diners. Our order was taken at the hibachi table and then we were promptly told they didn’t have enough cooks so we could either have our food cooked at an adjacent hibachi table while we still sat opposite, or move to the regular tables. We moved to the regular tables and were told we would be given some food “on the house” like soup or salad I’m assuming? Even though those came with what we ordered anyway. We ordered a sushi roll and it was so loose it completely fell apart as it sat on the plate. Our food came out extremely quickly after we sat on the table side, no one had asked how the steaks should be cooked. And the vegetables were still very crunchy. And still, we had no idea who our server was, it seemed like no one knew what to do with us. We had to ask for almost everything, including a box and the check, like had to flag someone down. We ordered water, ordered food with no modifiers, were asked to move and had almost no service. Our bill was full price as though we had sat at the hibachi table. And no one apologized to us once. I don’t know what we did to deserve being treated as such almost from our immediate arrival.
Needless to say we...
